De pain, boss.
There are no gays in Russia. There are homosexuals, but they are not allowed to be gay about it. The penalty is ten years in prison locked up with other men, and there is a five year waiting list for that.

A common attitude among religious parentsQUOTE]
No it isn’t, stupid-face.
Glad you think this is funny.
Agreed, and frankly I think only some desperately horny straight guys would be dumb enough to believe their act.
I’m reminded of a comment a friend of mine made, “No real lesbians watch lesbian porn.” Obviously she had her tongue pressed firmly in her cheek.
You just destroyed your own argument. Russia is vastly less religious than the US so by your logic homophobia should be vastly less in Russia than the US.
Please read a book and then when you’ve learned something come back and join us.
Until then, hush now, the adults are talking.
I saw them open for someone a couple decades ago (NIN?). The haters will be happy to know their lip-syncing pseudo-lesbian antics got them booed off the stage. It was not pretty.
Hey, we’re not quite that old yet, are we? t.A.T.u. is more like “a decade ago” phenomenon. (They formed in 1999, released their first singles in late 2000, and first album and tour in 2001.) I wonder who they would have opened for. I’m a bit surprised that anyone still remembers them, much less cares what they have to say. I was living in Europe when they hit it big, and there were a couple of songs that were fairly popular, but they always struck me as a flash-in-the-pan phenomenon, filed away with such performers as Lou Bega and Scatman John.
“All the Things She Said” was SO DAMN CATCHY that I can still hum it on command. I have no idea what the rest of Tatu’s output was like, but that song dug into a lot of brains even without the pseudo-lesbian stuff.
Yeah, that was their main hit. There was also “They’re Not Gonna Get Us” or something like that, plus a cover of the Smiths “How Soon Is Now?” as a bit of a curveball. At least those were the three I remember hearing out in Euro-land/Hungary–don’t know how many made it across the pond.
Russia is intensely religious these days. And I fail to see how I “destroyed my own argument” when I said that treatment of homosexual children is likely worse in a nation that is more homophobic.
No it’s not.
I should have added, the most recent survey by Pew found only about 8% of all Russian adults went to church even once a month.
When well over 90% of all Russians don’t go to church the idea that Russians are “intensely religious” is beyond stupid.
This got me questioning my memory. I asked some friends who would have been with me, and the consensus was it was not TATU, but some unremembered albeit very similar act. A few hot chicks doing some lesbian antics, lip-synching some dance tunes. One possibility was Fem2Fem, which fits the time frame (and they did get majorly booed, I’m assuming for the lip-synching, not the lesbianism).
Mea culpa.
Show me on this doll where the stupid celebrity’s words hurt you.
So…they’re a porn parody of the Spice Girls?
