July 4, 2019: Trumpendence Day!

If there are some tanks on static display, point every turret towards Trumps grandstand.

Currently about a 40% chance of thunderstorms on the Fourth.

Didn’t I see a gif of Trumplethinskin being struck by lightning around here somewhere?

Here’s how he’s paying for this spectacle.

The National Park Service is diverting $2.5 million, which is collected by entrance fees to pay for improvements at parks nationwide, to fund Trump’s July 4 spectacle – to which his political donors get VIP tickets, via @eilperin @jdawsey1 & @DanLamothe

He’s gone almost two and a half years in office without being struck by lightning, and yet somehow there remain people unconverted to atheism.

My country, 'tis of he.
small-handed bigotry
Big-lee I sing.

Scams where thy profits hide…
Love those who stoke my pride…
Let the truth sting.

Make America Graft Again!

Actually, I think Trumpendence Day is the day we get rid of the douchebag. God willing, it will be on January 20, 2021, unless he is successfully impeached, resigns, or drops dead sooner than that.

Only 567 days to go!

Well he seemed all right by dawn’s early light,
And he’d tweeted while on the can.
He wanted us to know he was puttin’ on a show,
Hosted by him, our President-Man.
And I disagreed with his view,
And I wanted to have a say,
So I took myself down to the fair in town,
On Trumpendence Day.

I’m considering flying my flag upside down.

Someone needs to give him a seven foot long metal baton to “lead the parade” with and instruct him to hold it up as high as he can.

“We all thought that Stork was brain damaged.”

It takes a certain kind of man with a certain reputation
To alleviate the cash from a whole entire nation…

Apparently there’s Robbie Williams fans in the White House, who knew.

Maybe by telling him that President Obama was able to lift it- almost- over his head. Donnie would hoist it high and proud.
Or treat it like a solar eclipse, and tell him NOT to hold it up very high.

Trump says his Fourth of July fest won’t come with a big price tag.

I’m also hearing that none of the VIP tickets are going to members of the armed services; if that’s true, the only ones in uniform at this military “salute” will be on stage with him.

What the living FUCK is he wearing in that photo???

In another six months, his suit coat will be down to his knees and his necktie to his ankles. Making him look “slim.”

Geez, Little Donnie Two Scoops will be in a zoot suit before we know it. Are his white nationalist supporters intelligent enough to get upset about that?

Tickets to the free event. Distributed by the RNC, who’s got tickets. No tickets for the DNC, because this a free event for all Americans! The front section is for ticket holders. Also, the military gets tickets! The section closest to the reviewing stand is reserved for ticket holders.

Open carry for firearms, in celebration of the 2nd Amendment, is not encouraged.

Open carry on the National Mall is illegal, AFAIK.

Those are actually more realistic to see passing in review IMO.

Shermans weigh less and there are a lot of them operational except for demilitarized weapons. The former Patton Museum of Armor and Cavalry at Fort Knox had 2-3 running when they transitioned to being merely the Patton museum. Along with the rest of the collection they were shipped to Fort Benning in 2010 to become part of the National Armor and Cavalry collection. (Video of the reenactment battle demonstration conducted as part of the museum’s last Memorial Day event prior to shipping everything to Benning.)

Working funding legalities is an issue. The museum is a private foundation with some public support like land on federal military reservations. There are also completely private reenactors that refurbish and display vehicles including in operation. They might jump at the chance to spend a bunch of money and show off on a national stage. Security is an issue since even a demilitarized tank should make the Secret Service grit their teeth.

We’re only hearing about the plan relatively late. A Sherman pass in review is entirely realistic with enough lead time to work the issues.

I was thinking the 7¼ ton M1917 be preferable if any in running condition are still around. They’ve been on the streets of DC before, dispersing the Bonus Army.
