That rocks. The whole thing is such a travesty, but I liked hearing that the blimp will be there. Now learning that someone is selling little balloons make me wish I’d gone there so I can have one. LOL!

“Celebrating America” by appropriating and fencing off a good chunk of our national Mall to be a VIP-only section - that’s actually a pretty good metaphor for America in the Age of Trump.
PBS streaming has gone live, with about an hour to go before the start. Light rain falling. Two Bradley AFVs flank the stage; not sure where the Abrams tanks are parked. The stage is currently empty but there’s a group of about 200 people boxed into a plexiglass-walled enclosure behind it, to, I guess, provide photographic props for Trump’s speech. Public seems to be able to approach within about 100 feet or so of the stage. Crowd visible from the camera position (facing Lincoln Memorial) seems pretty sparse, may be more behind the camera position. No sign of any VIPs as yet.

Within the first couple minutes, an announcer’s voice said, “Today’s event has been delayed.” No idea why or for how long.
Predictably, goddam California liberals had themselves an earthquake to take the news spotlight away from this Trump Triumph of Totalitarianism as the US strives to establish itself as a world-class banana republic.
I hope the crowd is sparse, with a high representation of baby blimp balloons.

Was not really able to judge crowd size from PBS’ camera position, except that there seemed to be plenty of space to walk; in any event they’ve now zoomed in on the podium.
No MAGA hats currently visible in the group behind the stage, and maybe 10% amongst the public viewable from PBS’ camera.
