Jump Gate to Mars

Insert Babylon 5 comment here.

I love how you post these types of things, Tuckerfan. Always interesting.

I can’t really comment on this particular one from any position of authority, other than that it looks interesting, if a bit far-fetched. I can’t wait to see what Chronos has to say about it.

I loved Babylon 5. It’s better than Cats. I’m going to see it again and again…

If he’s not careful Wolfram will hunt him down and kill him for stealing his thunder.

It sounds … well I don’t know yet. I’m going to try and read this but maybe we can get Chronos or scr4 to give it a quick skim.

I’ve had a skim of it (in between trying to figure out my talk for a workshop next week), and I don’t buy it, particularly the stuff about “shock waves at the interaction of two gravitational regimes in our solar system” and “new structure of reality”. It just seems too far fetched. To quote a colleague of mine that I showed the link to

Man, you scientists just wanna ruin all our fun, don’t you? First that Einstein jerk decides that there needs to be a universal speed limit, and then you say wormholes won’t work for time travel, and now you’re forking the idea of jump gates. Just stop it, will ya? We want our cool toys and warp drives, but at the rate you guys are going, we’ll never get any of them! :frowning:

'Fraid so, Tuckerfan. I’m with Scotty on this one.

Give us time, we may come up with something that’s physically possible and gives you your cool and nifty gadgets.

I like that the article was written by someone named Clark.

Hell Yes! I’m still waiting for my flying car!

Am I the only one who thinks of “Time Cube” when reading that site?

Tuckerfan: Did you get that article from ISN?

Jump Gate to Mars

Don’t let them scientific types rain on your parade, Tuckerfan. It WORKS!

Nope, somebody linked to it on another board I go to. (Yeah, I stole their link, but what the heck, right? I mean, if somebody’s gonnna still one of my links there’s nothing I can do about it, even if I wanted to.)
