Junie B Jones and Stupid Stinking Cancer

Barbara Park, children’s author, dies at 66 My kids will be very sad to hear this. So am I.

That’s a darn shame. Junie B. is a great character - I enjoyed the books as much as my child did.

Sad news. My son was really into those books a few years back.

The books are brilliant. My personal favorite moment is when Junie B. watches a TV movie called When Ponies Attack.

Aw, I didn’t even know she was sick.

My daughter loved these books when she was in kindergarten and first grade but then she outgrew them. My son is in first grade now and I read one to him about 4 years ago but he didn’t really get into it. Maybe I can read them to him again.

Oh my little girl LOVES Junie B. so much. I have to limit her though because she mimics her, which will not do for a third grader.

Cancer is such a dumb bunny.

:frowning:

Phillip Johnny Bob does not like this. My daughter and I had such a great time reading those books. That was back when I still read to her at night and we always needed just one more chapter. I was forever checking to see if she wrote just one more book, but I guess there goes that idea.

Rushgeekgirl, we still slip into Junie B Jones-speak on occasion. Also, it doesn’t seem possibly that your girl is that old already! Time flies!

Damn shame indeed.

She was a fellow South Jersey native–born in Mount Holly–and one of my coworkers at the library went to school with her.

I put up a memorial book display. I wish I could do more.
