Jupiter Ascending, huh on the plot?

Yes I know this is a visual spectacle, with plot a very far second. For god sakes a dog man named Caine Wise? Yea ok with that said…

Ok so…humans did not evolve on Earth, humans evolved elsewhere and Earth was discovered and seeded with life long, long ago during an age of exploration. Earth as well as all the other planets were terraformed and seeded to be harvested at a far future point, which seems to mean turning every human on them into some kind of anti aging potion.

But turns out our protagonist is by sheer coincidence an exact genetic copy of a dead very rich woman or queen. This is apparently not unusual at all, they call it recurrence, and rich people even write their wills to include this possibility.

If the recurrence can prove it they can file papers and reclaim all the property disbursed to their heirs, which includes the Earth which is just about to be harvested.

Sooooo…these vastly rich people, remember one says heh the Earth is just one planet. They are cool with harvesting entire planets full of humans KNOWING there could be recurrences there? You’d think at the least that would bug a lot of people, aside from the pseudo cannibalism thing.

Dog-Man Ca[n]ine Wise bothers you, but you don’t say a thing about Bee-Man Stinger Apini?

There are lotsa lapses and plotholes in the film. It’s not up to Cloud Atlas or The Matrix, but it’s interesting, and feels as if someone tried to adapt the works of Cordwainer Smith, mashed in with those of Frank Herbert, and the resulting chimaera wasn’t a completely happy one. I’ll still take it over a lot of the other lame SF movies we’ve been getting.
