Anyway, even with the conviction being overturned, it does seem like his career is, if not over, at least seriously damaged. He didn’t have a single acting role from 2019 (when the initial incident occurred) until this year, when he starred in a movie which he also directed and co-wrote, and which has terrible reviews on IMDB (though it’s hard to say how much of that is the quality of the film itself, versus public disdain for him).
Exactly; it was a case of “the state had an agreement with the defendant, and then changed their minds and decided to charge and convict him anyway.” In no way did it exonerate him.
We have users who are really trying to avoid politics right now. This isn’t in p&e, and Trump isn’t relevant to this story. Also, that comment could lead to a hijack.
And on that basis I agree with the decision. There was an attempt to fix the bad actions of the original prosecutor but they should have known it was too late.
