Just a tech heads up for smartphone owners . If you have a relatively new phone (Galaxy S5 or newer - iPhone 6 or newer) make sure the wi-fi calling option is enabled. What this does is if you’re indoors and the over the air wireless cell signal is weak the phone will reach out to an open and accessible Wi-Fi connection if available and connect the call over the internet instead of using the cell tower signal. Greatly reduces dropped calls indoors in weaker signal areas.
Thanks v much - I quite simply didn’t know this feature existed, and it just solved a big problem for me in 30 seconds - all I had to do was just switch it on (Verizon iPhone 6). It’s a HUGE boon for me, as I was trying to figure out what to do about the mediocre cellphone reception in my new house. The best solution that I had so far to direct calls via WiFi was Google Voice and Google Hangouts. Google Voice is excellent, but it’s not quite seamless yet, caller ID is messy.
I’m about to get a Galaxy S7 Edge for my work phone: there’s a war room at the office where cell phone signals go to die (but where the wifi always works), and I sometimes manage proposals in that room for 4-6 weeks at a time. This is going to be a *huge *help. Thanks, astro!
