Man. That game has me so torn as to whether or not I liked it more than GR1 or not.
That actual game play, control, and third person view of your main character was awsome. Best in any shooter game in my opinion. And the maps are all amazing as well. They look great and it’s still hard to believe the Xbox is putting out those graphics.
My complaints with the game though are big ones. I REALLY liked being able to control 2 squads, seperately, in GR1. IT really helped with building the tactical feeling instead of just creeping across the map. I loved sending one squad in one door of a building and me going through the other. It was awsome to watch. In this one there really isn’t any other squad to control, which really limits your strategy. Also, I found that I didn’t really have any good control over my own squad mates. They were just following me for the most part and very rarely caught any enemies sneaking up behind me. The point spending system for your “rewards” was weak too. I really enjoyed unlocking game modes, weapons, and people in the first 2 GR games.
Multiplayer though this game rules the roost. The graphics really lend themselves to letting you actually use camoflauge the way it’s meant to be used. The maps are insanely large and there are no real stinkers in the bunch.
All in all I would say that the main character control and overall feel of this game is far better than GR1 (my fav game of all time) but the planning and team execution (a major part of the GR foundation) is far better in GR1. Multiplayer is the tie breaker though so I gotta give it to GR2 for the win. Amazing game.
Any thoughts from anyone else who’s played it?
(Now I can open my copy of Summit Strike that I’ve had for months now)
