Just in case anyone else is in an impulsive mood, too. (coupon code REBCC30, shipping is free) It’s refurbished, black, heavy duty or something. I’ve never really wanted one, but to hear others speak of them it seems like I should want one since I cook all the time, and at that price I couldn’t pass it up.
So I’m kind of excited about my new toy, which I can’t even use until we get off this island a year from now. But it will be in a box, waiting for me. Yay!
Those things are nearly $400? Well that explains why my mom freaked out when I dropped hers when getting it out of the cupboard! Luckily with a little repair work by my (also annoyed) dad, it works just fine now!
Depends on the model. That’s a Professional version which (IIRC) is the type that has the all-metal parts/gears inside (vs. cheaper models which may have some plastic parts), so it’s more expensive.
You can still order them, with the discount, when they are out of stock. Theyjust take longer to ship. I just took delivery of my Stand mixer and food processor (total price, $214) that I ordered in January, when they were out of stock.
I know how much love there is out there for Kitchenaid, but everytime I’ve seen them on TV being used, it looks really difficult putting ingredients in as it’s mixing. Do any of you find that to be true? I’ve got a Sunbeam Mixmaster and it’s very easy adding stuff because the opening on top is a lot bigger.
I have not opened mine yet, but when watching cooking shows, it is obvious that ingredients are not super easy to add to a running mixer. However, a flexible cutting mat makes things much easier.
Also, compared to the sunbeam, the Kichenaid will work much much better on things like breads.
The one I got has a direct drive transmission and all metal construction. The professional 5 description (in OPs link) doesn’t say it is all-metal.
