Honestly, if you bought any of the three next-gen systems it would be a good choice. I have all three, and they are all excellent, with great games. Though, IMO, PS2 has the least of the best games.
“Though, IMO, PS2 has the least of the best games.”
I am curious; why do you believe this? Most people seem to believe the opposite for the simple reason that PS2 has been around longer. (Of course PS2 has disadvantages on other fronts like hardware)
Oh, I dunno, it might not work out so badly. In college, between my roommate and I, our living room had 2 TVs, 2 N64s, 2 Playstations, and a kickass stereo system. I dunno about my roomie, but I graduated with a 3.7.
Come to think of it, it probably would have been a 3.8 without all that…
Kwyjibo, I think you made a good choice with Xbox. I have never had more fun playing video games than networked Halo games with 4 Xboxes and 4 TVs. Splinter Cell, while only a limited time Xbox exclusive, is still likely to be better than on other consoles (extra content downloads, DDS 5.1 are the main reasons). MechAssault is very nicely done, and should be a game you should try out.
The only games you’ll be missing from PS2’s lineup are the Final Fantasy series and the GTA series. Yet, speaking for myself, I’m not a huge fan of the later FF games, and with the GTA games being ported to computer (which play better than on PS2), I’d have to say it’s no big loss.
Besides, Fable’s coming out for Xbox…
