Just curious - not a complaint

Bone,

Why is Trump N. Korea a Great Debate issue while TrumpCare is an Elections issue?

Crane

It’s a toss up really and I speak for myself and my own application of the rules, but here’s how I see it. I tend not to want to move threads if they’ve had significant activity already. I think doing that creates incongruity with thread content at the demarcation point. If a thread has been going for 100 posts in Cafe Society it could be jarring to take a sharp turn in the Pit. To me there is a bit of inertia at play and since the posting rules are the same in each forum I don’t think it’s a huge deal.

There is also this from the Rules Sticky at the top of that forum:

Bone,

Thanks for the response.

I did give it consideration and followed the Trumpcare post.
I’ll try to do better next time.

Crane

As I see it, Crane (and I think Bone feels this way, also, since he didn’t comment further in this thread), there’s nothing to apologize for. As he said, there are quite a few topics that could go in either forum. You’re good.

Sometimes it’s a tricky business deciding in which forum to put a thread when you start one. It might seem simple enough that you should post a question in GQ but I’ve hesitated before wondering whether the question has a definitive answer or would the answer be debatable and thus the post better off in GD. It’s even more difficult when it comes to other forums. Should it be IMHO or MPSIMS, GD or Elections, any forum or the Pit?

And if we sometimes find it hard think of the mods who often have to decide the destination not just of their own threads but of everyone else’s. Should this thread go here or there? Should that one be left where it is? Not a task to be envied.

I don’t know what Ed has on these guys but it must be good!
