That’s a perfectly fine option, too. There are topics i often avoid because i don’t “get” how other people react to them, and risk upsetting others.
You seem to think intelligent and diverse conversation is the goal of those tut-tutting. You couldn’t be further from the truth. The goal is nothing but ideological and tonal conformity using social ostracism and institutional capture as tools.

Could have been an interesting discussion if Roger_That had thought it out a bit. He probably could have even used the underage sex thing if he wasn’t so graphic about it. However, his further posts in tis thread suggests he should probably just drop it altogether.

This is a poor argument and I wish people would stop using it. If I went to Fox news and posted Trump lost the election, everyone would think I was wrong. That doesn’t mean I am wrong. It’s a surprise to nobody that a left leaning board would think left ideas are best and a right leaning board would think right ideas are best.

Did you even read the post that caused this ruckus? It was so over the top that I didn’t even bother reporting it because I knew the mods would have already seen a million reports. It was nauseating.
I did but I’m not sure that in a board where prison rape jokes and fried semen were a thing that offensive language directed at off board members is forbidden. Obviously standards have evolved without being codified aside from expanding what it means to be a jerk.
For someone who used to complain so much about people cursing in the Pit, this is certainly an odd take.
There is a difference between choice and compulsion with regards to communication. I can dislike style, word choice, and even the overall content of a post without feeling that it needs to be prohibited by fiat. Especially when the enforcement is very inconsistent and biased.
I guess we’ll agree to disagree. The post in question basically made me nauseous, and was completely out of place given the thread topic. I suppose reading about fried semen recipes would also make me nauseous, but I wouldn’t even open that thread.
This thing came out of nowhere. And, the rules are different for GD/P&E than they are for the Pit and Cafe Society (which is where I assume a fried semen thread would go).
