I call my dad once a week. A couple of months ago, I called him on a Wednesday and caught him in the middle of a nap. He proceeds to say to me, “How’s your weekend going?”
I was like Papa, it’s Wednesday. Must be nice to be retired!
ETA: My least favorite day is Tuesday, not Monday. My rationale is this: on Monday you still have the weekend behind you. On Tuesday you just have Monday, and it’s forever till the weekend again.
Definitely Monday. The start of a fresh week - new lessons to teach. The kids are usually doing an activity, so I really don’t have to be engaged all the time. Review the previous weekend’s tournament, hand out accolades, update all the standings…Mondays are just cool. Plus our school has “late start” on Mondays, so it is also a chance to meet with fellow teachers and swap stuff. Half the meetings seem to involve things I am not part of, so those days I get another hour of prep.
Now that I’m retired, I like Mondays the best. The weekends just have too many people out and about, there’s nothing on TV, and nothing seems right.
On Monday, everything is back to normal. And Monday’s during the school year are the best because I’m back in my weekday routine and because I really can go to the grocery store or go a restaurant without crowds.
Before I was retired my worst day was Sunday. It would be fine until the afternoon when I’d start doing lesson plans and grading papers, and I’d start getting ready for school on Monday.
I went with my gut and ‘Thursday’ popped out as the answer. Why? Don’t know. I’m currently unemployed (but hopefully, that will change soon) so each day is about the same. Maybe b/c when I did have a M-F job, I was just happy to be on the other side of humpday?
Sunday afternoons as always are the worse. Thank you, Douglas Adams for the phrase, ‘the long dark tea-time of the soul’. Sunday afternoons with no Walking Dead to look forward to are worse.
Right now I work a M - F, 8 - 5 job so Saturdays are the best. Don’t have to go anywhere and there’s still another day off before I have to go to work…
