Just got myself opera, but I can't scroll...

That about sums it up. I just started using Opera internet browser, but I can’t get my mouse scrolol function to work. Just to clarify, I’m using a laptop, and I don’t have an actual scroll wheel, merely a button that, when pressed, allows the “nub” interface to act like a scroll wheel. It’s a setting on the laptop itself, and works fine in IE. When I press the scroll button, the scroll icon for the mouse pointer appears, but moving the nub does nothing. I hate to say it, but if I can’t get the scroll function to work, I’ll have to give up using Opera. I’m just so ingrained to use it, that it frustrates me to no end when it doesn’t work.

For what it’s worth, I’m running an IBM T20 with Windows 98.

Oh, well then I’d recommend Mozilla instead. There’s a plug-in for it that does exactly what you’re asking about. I forgot exactly where I saw that though :stuck_out_tongue:

From Opera knowledge base:

I suspect your Opera INI file needs to be edited.

Have you gone through the tutorial at Opera.com ?
Have you summitted a bug report?

It should be part of the preferences. File > Preferences > Mouse and Keyboard > Middle Click Options

I am running Opera on Linux and had to upgrade to 7.23 for the feature. It wasn’t there in 7.11 for some reason. Should be there if you are using Windows.

Sometimes, it is called “panning” This helped me when I was searching for information.

For what it’s worth, it works fine on my IBM X21 under Win2k. I didn’t need to change any settings to make it work.

Have you tried downloading the latest TrackPoint driver?

Hmm…works fine now. I think I may have just needed a restart after installing Opera. Thanks for the help, though.
