Dude, Where’s My Car? is currently my favorite movie. I understand that it is not an intellectual film, nor does it make any social statements. It does not have the ability to deeply move me. It is not worthy of an Academy Award. I like it because it is stupid and funny. I have the feeling that many of you have not even seen the movie. Give it a chance. At least rent it. It’ll be out on video soon, no doubt. People these days need to learn some movie tolerance. Seeing a wide variety of films has enriched my life in a way nothing else could. I try to give most movies a fair chance. Except if they star Drew Barrymore or Sandra Bullock. Ugh. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon looks wonderful, and I also am anticipating its widespread release.
I’m not asking for the braindead films to vanish, or to have them stop being shown. I AM asking that they share a little space with the good, quality worhty films as well.
I LIKE Wayne’s World, Something About Mary, etc., but I would like a shot at seeing this film as well.
Anyone know when CT,HD is supposed to be widely released. I looked at our local online paper, and it isn’t listed as coming out in January either =(
Just saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon yesterday in Seattle. Now THAT was an amazing movie. Absolutely everyone should see this movie, except those that can’t read subtitles.
Zhang Ziyi is a goddess as far as I am concerned. When the movie was over, the audience applauded. I’ve never seen that happen for a movie before.
If you have to drive to Seattle to see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon it would be worth it.
I have to interrupt this moviethread to spread the word on my all-new second-favorite website, MovieLens. It’s awesome. You login and create an account, then rate movies.
The server keeps track of your likes and dislikes and develops a profile for you. Then it will recommend movies you will probably enjoy. You can search for “Your Movies” in any of, like, a dozen categories.
It’s awesome.
BTW, once you sign up, send me an email (sdimbert@ureach.com) and I will add you to the SDMB Group, the “Teeming Movie-naires.” That way we can trade reviews, recommendations, etc!
