The documentary about the family charged with operating a child sex ring. The question that arose in me was:
Why did the creators of Arrested Development decide to base the Bluths on them? Even if you think it IS just a coincidence that the oldest Friedman son is a magician who is obsessed with his criminal father just like Gob, Buster is obviously based on Jesse. They look similar and Buster’s odd speech characteristics match Jesse’s exactly. Seriously, they talk exactly the same - I’ve seen the actor who plays Buster in other shows so I know he doesn’t talk like that normally. So what do you think that’s about - is it a stretch or is it possible that the Friedmans really were a model for the Bluths (middle child Seth, didn’t participate in the movie, so there’s no way to draw a parallel between him and Michael)?
