Just switched to Firefox and lost my "bookmarks" tab

I have no idea what I did and haven’t been able to figure out how to fix it. The only tabs I see are “getting started” “most visited” and “latest headlines”. So, I can’t find my Bookmarks and don’t know where to look. Help!

The top of my browser window has

File - Edit - View - History - Bookmarks - Tools - Help

Is yours different?

That is the Bookmarks toolbar you’re describing.

The Bookmarks tab is at the top on the menu bar.

You can restore the Bookmarks if you truly lost them. I’m not sure what you really have going on from your description.

It sounds to me like the OP has switched to Firefox from IE, and hasn’t imported his/her bookmarks.

under Bookmarks, Organize there’s a tab to import or backup bookmarks

click the import backup and a submenu lets you restore

Firefox makes regular backups of bookmarks
I “think” you import html to get bookmarks from IE. It’s been awhile since I had to do that.

No I imported them just fine. I don’t have what Antigen describes at the top of my browser. Did I push a button somewhere??

OK - now if I push the ALT button then I do get those options but as soon as I release it they go away. Halp!

NM - got it! Somehow I had made the Menu Bar go away. Silly me.

Right clicking on a blank area of the menu bar brings up a box with options you can click on and off. Unchecking Menu Bar makes it disappear from the top of the browser. That’s probably how you lost it.

That’s funny, as doesn’t IE also do that as default?

BTW, you can delete those “Getting Started” and similar buttons, and replace them with sites you actually go to. Just drag the little icon from the address bar down there, when you’re at the site you want to add. And right-click and choose delete on a button if you want to get rid of it.

Personally, I prefer to use cntrl-B, which opens the bookmarks sidebar.
