Well, Firefox didn’t actually delete them, it just stopped displaying them. Where the hell did my Bookmarks go? Their icon no longer appears in my top bar.
I can still get here, from Google, but it’s not as easy as just clicking in a Bookmarks link. Why did my Bookmarks disappear, and how can I restore them?
No. I have no idea what the “Firefox menu bar” is, and every menu bar I click (which must include “Toolbars” and “Bookmarks”), has no “View” option.
I don’t know. I can get here, which is a plus. I seem to be able to post, to send PMs, and to do other things, as normal. That’s not so bad. But where did my bookmarks go? And how do I get them back?
It sounds like you’re not only missing your Bookmarks, but also your Menu Bar.
To retrieve your Menu Bar, right click the top of your browser (mine is a blue bar) and from the drop down, select Menu Bar.
This should give you access to File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools & Help.
Maybe that’s all you needed to access Bookmarks.
If not you could try fiddling with Customize Toolbar or Bookmarks Toolbar in the same drop down menu. Actually, if you Customize Toolbar you should be able to drag a bookmark shortcut onto your toolbar. Toolbar is the same area as the search bar (usually).
If you’re still stuck your bookmark backup file is located at
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Waterfox\Profiles
Note that I use Waterfox, so you likely need to substitute Firefox in the above directory. In profiles there’s a couple folders. Try the one with the most recent date. You should (might?) find your bookmarks backup folder in there.
Note that I’m on Windows 10 so it may be the same, or not, as what you use. If it’s different you may have to fish around a bit but I’m sure it will be similar. Once found you should be able to restore bookmarks from backup.
Reddit has a support forum for Waterfox so they’re bound to have one for Firefox as well if you need more help. You may get a quicker response there than from Mozilla help. In any case it would be a more likely source than here.
