Just when I think Cal Thomas can't piss me off any worse, he outdoes himself

The National Press Club just gave Novak an award for lifetime achievement.

Sorry. I was daydeaming, and confused Thomas and Novak. :frowning:

Too bad the archive doesn’t go back very far. I remember Cal Thomas doozies such as “Jim Bakker has been punished enough” (1993) and his column in the wake of Nixon’s death in 1994 on how Nixon wasn’t bad, just misunderstood.

Of all columnists carried in, say, 100+ papers, Cal Thomas is easily the dumbest. When the Bristol (VA/TN) Herald-Courier picked up his column, they said they did so because he represented a particular point of view. Affirmative action for conservative Christian columnists!

The dumbest? Are you sure? Ann Coulter is pretty close.

Good point. But is she in a lot of papers? The only place I’ve seen her column is online.

My personal favorite Cal Thomas psychotic break was from around 1991 when he opened fire on the evil lesbians for trying to claim that the relationship between two of the in the movie of Fried Green Tomatoes had lesbian overtones. Went on at length about how the evil lesbians try to subvert and pervert any story about friendship between women into a dirty lesbian sex-thing. Um, hello?

If anything, he should have praised the movie for toning down that theme. It was more overt in the book.

december, do you have problems with lesbians? Do you have… issues? :stuck_out_tongue:
