Just when I thought I'd seen it all

Not celibacy, anti sexuality. It’s a real thing. More people telling others what they should do with their bodies.

I don’t know how humanity got so hung up about sex: repression, transcending it, free love, etc. It just seems like at some point on the road we developed a toxic relationship to it either worshiping it or demonizing it. Why can’t people just BE and leave it at that. If you love it then great and if not (for whatever reason as long as you don’t preach it) then great. Making it out to be such a big deal leads to junk like this.

Some people like to think that humans are superior to animals.

I’m not sure why this is surprising. I don’t know numbers of how large this movement is, but I’d be willing to bet that it is a significantly small % of society. There are plenty of fringe groups that support lots of weird ideas. Don’t get hung up on it.

Ever hear of the Shakers? Well, maybe not: For some reason, they all died out.

Probably because they listened to too much AC/DC.

Per your cite, almost died out, but not quite.

He can just fuck right off*, then. Honestly. Do we really have to listen to every single example of fucknuttian bullshit, just in case this one might have a point?

*I mean, I guess we should tell him to unfuck off or something.

This is nothing new. Antisexuality has been around for centuries.

Died out or not, it makes perfect sense that one cannot be born a Shaker: one has to join up sua sponte. This is true for nany religious orders and communities, not only Shakers. If Shaker communities die out, it is because of a dearth of people interested in becoming novices.

The translation of their website is even more hilarious. It’s like a bad cartoon almost. Most of their arguments are either flat out wrong or grossly mistaken.
