Do we Dopers have legal recourse against who forced me to watch TV
& renew my Library Card? I even talked to my wife! Serously, is not hacking illegal? I believe that it was a disgruntled former
poster who was, in his/her mind mistreated.
I don’t know if it was a former poster or just your average evildoer, but I hope the heap of brains that live on and behind this board find the miscreant. One needs only read a thread or two on the Pit to know that collectively, we could cause the punk to suffer for his deed.
It’s from heraldry. The proper heraldic term for things like the “Cross of St. Patrick.” Look it up.
Well, you, Berry, figure out how to catch the hacker(s) (I strongly doubt they ever posted here.), and I’m sure our local school of sharks on this board can handle the legal end of things. . .if you grease their hands properly, that is.
I was thinking of hiring some of them to sue The SD for enticing me back here at the time my withdrawal symptoms were finally wearing off. . .but then I remembered I was allergic to shark meat.

If what I read is accurate the hackers used the Straight Dope computers in tandem with other sites to launch a DOS attack.
The attack against Ebay and others a few weeks ago made the cover of the news magazines. The attack on the FBI site on Febuary 18 was just as bad but was a lot quieter.
If they keep it up they’ll eventually make the mistake that gets them arrested.
