Justified 4/3/12: "Coalition"

Nope, he was definitely there, lying face down.

Huh. OK, good enough for me.

OK, I rewatched it, and you’re right. Boyd is still there. It was a really quick take, but he was there. However, it’s also really clear that Jimmy couldn’t have seen a thing, as he is lying at the bottom of a ramp behind a wall. I still think Wynn shot the cop and now has Quarles, intending to collect the 200K.

Quarles is such a relentlessly entertaining character I’m really going to be sad to see him go.* I nearly soiled my diaper at Duffy’s “big stupid baby head” line, and thought the “shoo-fly pie” exchange between Quarles and Limehouse in the previous episode was one of the funniest things I’ve seen on television.

  • No foreknowledge; I’m just assuming.

So, will they find the money buried under the hog pen? Limehouse sure does spend a lot of time feeding and taking care of those porkers and nobody else seems to want to enter that area.

Love this show - it just zooms along at an amazing clip without missing a beat.

That would be a neat nod to Wu in Deadwood.

Ooooh, Quarles in the hog pen – ::delicious shudder::

I’ve forgotten – where does Limehouse’s money come from? Not Mags’ money, but Limehouse’s money. Is he in the drug business too?

He seems too smart to have buried Mags’ money, especially someplace where it could take hours to dig it up. I’d like for him to have invested it, or deposited it in several banks. Or to have bought some property, with Loretta as co-owner.

It sounds to me like he sort of a neutral party for the various criminal elements in the area. He holds their money securely, and has a huge network of informers. He seems to make a good deal of money selling that information. He refused Quarles’s bag of drugs, so I don’t think he deals himself. If you think about it, if his primary business is money and information, then there’s no physical evidence or contraband on his property, which keeps him safe.

When he told Raylan that he just wants to be left alone, I believe him.

I believe him too. I’d like to see him back next season. He’s so calm and steady.

Is everything Erroll’s been doing OK with Limehouse? It seems that they’re working together, but I can’t forget that scene in the first episode, when Limehouse threatened him. And didn’t Erroll (or is it Earl?) already mess up once?

I’m pretty sure it was all planned by Limehouse. Boyd pretty much nailed it when he said “Where were you going to go?”

Yeah, he messed up in the past as evidenced by his disfigured hand. He also messed up when he got involved with that ripoff of the oxy dealers.
