K2, P2 - A Knitty MMP

Got a call from my doc’s office on Wednesday. My first 12-hour fasting blood test on Monday showed an increased white cell count indicating an infection, requiring another blood test. What my (almost completely cured, formerly anixety-riddled) brain said was: OMG! MRSA!..Oh, FFS! Stop that. It’s probably a UTI again.
Then I said suuuuure, I’ll go to this closer but opens later lab. :smack:

So what did I do first thing both Thursday and Friday morning? Drink a cup of coffee with cream in it. :smack: Good thing I called the lab mid-morning on Friday and asked if it was the same fasting blood test. It wasn’t, so off I went.

Now I’m starting to feel an ache in my left kidney. :frowning:

Tonight’s dinner will be a shepherd’s pie to use up the yummy roast moooo leftover from yesterday. I made baked potatoes but when they were done I changed my mind in favour of mashed–because the gravy turned out so darn good! I have to say peeling skins off of volcanically hot taties wasn’t fun but oh, oh oh! The tastiest, potato-iest mashed potatoes I have ever made. I think it’s because I didn’t boil them until water-logged, as usual. Two things I cannot seem to make well are mashed potatoes and scalloped potatoes.

sturmy, now that mr.j can operate the work boat by himself he says he’s going to start bringing home prawns. If/when he does, I’m going to try your recipe. Sounds Mmm Mmm good! (makes note to look for Large Ingredient Collider)

FCM, at our old house in Calgary we’d see one of several neighborhood cats sitting on top of our wood slat compost bin in the early spring and late fall. Catz R smart! I’m smiling just thinking about kittehs pouncing and tails twitching.

Speaking of which, YAYS for js-kitty. I’m sorry but I don’t what your sweetums has been dealing with jsgoddess, but yay for such improvement!skritch, skritch

Nava, you get a long virtual shoulder rub for the ongoing Sheboss saga. Gah!
Well Poppa Bear has just now emerged from his den, so LATERZ GATERZ!

Evenin’ all. As you can well imagine, I am thoroughly exhausted.

I had to take HRH to the clinic this morning to get her Chicken Pox vaccination done (it’s not compulsory, but given HRH’s past history, I though I’d rather do that than take the minute chance of her getting encephalitis as an add-on). On the way home, HRH seemed quite content (probably 'cause she got a lolly to distract her from the jab), so we stopped off at the designer mall to look at expensive handbags. Now, just to clue you in, I am planning to spend about $1,000 on this bag. I walked around the Louis Vuitton store, looked at a couple of bags, asked the price on one or two, picked myself up off the floor and then asked what he had for around $1,000, and then watched his nose discreetly wrinkle, before he showed me a couple of “smaller items”. I think I will be forced to review my brand choice! But I do know for certain it won’t be a Hermes bag - I love the Hermes Kelly bag, but I think they start at around $10,000! OUCH!!

BooFae, you is one scary lady!!!

Hey LiLi, what a coincidence! I have a small person pulling my arm too, but she’s whining, “Mummy, wash hands! Mummy, wash, water! Mummy, towel, wash hands! P(l)ease!!!”

Good morning everyone. I’m up and waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. I had to try and make it weaker today because the hubby complained yesterday’s was too strong.:dubious::mad: I like my coffee strong and rich. I don’t know what his problem is.

Wow, **Dotty. ** That’s a lot of shekels! However, you more than deserve it. If I had the extra cash and no other wants, I’d do the same.

I haven’t seen my daughter since Friday morning. She went to school and then her boyfriend picked her up. She’s supposed to come home today because she has to work at 3:00. I should get used to it, because if she’s accepted to the UW Seattle campus she’s moving out, but I miss her dangit!

She also told me that as of spring quarter she’ll be a sophomore and not a freshman. She came into her freshmen year with 15 credits because of her AP classes and exams. Hopefully, she’ll get a better choice of classes this go round.

Hmmm, not too much else going on. Just hanging out, I guess.

Ok, I think $10,000 is too much to spend on a handbag. Who’s with me?

I am packing/flatironing my hair/getting ready to go to scenic, lovely Mount Vernon, IL. Apparently, MV has everything anyone could possible desire, including a chrome gorilla (pssst: the gorilla is not in blue*)

*just kidding–no clue who that woman is, but the tourist site won’t work for me and I had to find a pic of the Chrome Gorilla! WTF does MV celebrate a chrome gorilla? Your far flung correspondent will expose the awful truth…

My current purse cost $12. Yeah, $10K for something to hold my wallet and keys and some tissues seems a tad steep. Heck, I don’t think I could spend $100 on a purse. Of course, I’m terminally frugal about some things.

I still haven’t accomplished a thing today. Daughter put *I Am Sam *on the TV, so I’m hooked - gotta see how it ends. Then down to the studio.

And I think we’re having Death Chicken for supper - I should get some chickie pieces out to thaw…

Well, to be honest, I’d find 10 grand a bit steep for a purse myself. On the other hand, someone that can spend 10 grand on a purse is making a hell of a lot more money than me, and who am I to say how to spend it?

I actually do have a sort of spendy purse. It was a Christmas gift from hubby a couple, three years ago. I didn’t want to spend that kind of money on a purse, but he insisted I have it precisely because I always “make-do” with something else. Anyway, I use that purse everyday and it’s still looks like brand new. I guess you get what you pay for.

I’m still the only one up. I think it’s time for another cup of joe and maybe some chocolate cream pie. I bought the pie to eat as dessert last night, but we were too full from dinner. Can’t let a perfectly lovely pie go to waste now, can I?

Too bad. Ending the universe after enjoying a good meal sounds perfect!

Thanks for the well-wishes for my kitty. She developed a liver problem, which apparently stemmed from a tooth problem and an inability to eat and, and, and. It’s been a long road.

All of the purses I’ve ever owned have been gifts. I just realized that. How strange!

I’d stab my best friend with a dull pencil for a Kelly bag. That’s right. I said it. I want a Kelly bag and I will stoop to bloody murder to get one if that’s what it takes.

My most expensive bag cost $200, but I didn’t actually pay a penny for it (it was a gift from my MIL). All my other bags cost somewhere around $35, because I’m refuse to buy anything at full price. I worked retail long enough to know how ridonculous the markups are, and how much most items in stores are actually worth.

LiLi, that sounds like a wonderfully romantic evening for a couple who didn’t even go on their honeymoon alone.

Hope that the new blood test shows it’s something entirely mundane and not bothersome at all, criminey. UTIs are a pain in the… well… you know.

OK, on that note, I’m skipping off to the Tronna Dopefest. If I don’t return, let it be known that the scary internet people are most like responsible and should be made to pay. I count on the Mumpers to avenge my death.

Right. Sunspace and Cerowyn ate you.

My purse was free. I got it at the clothing swap a couple weeks ago. And $10,000 for a purse is okay as long as it makes you invisible, cooks you dinner, and is plated with adamatium.
We’re back from Mass, have offered to bring dinner for a nice couple we’re trying to get to know, who had a baby last week (second. First one is two and fricking adorable. Both daughters), and are about to eat reheated Hakka Chinese food. Yum.

And then I’m having a nap.

Sorting of the ceramics is done. I didn’t get motivated enough to try to design something with some of the miscellaneous pieces, but I have taken pics of the ones I’m offering up. Time to edit, crop, and make a web page. Or I’ll take a break and knit. Indecision is the key to flexibility, you know.

Maybe I should have some lunch first…

$10,000 feels like too much to spend on a car!!!

Yikes.

Cleaning the house to have family over for young son’s 14 bday party.

Why do I only clean for guests? Don’t I deserve a clean house???

Le sigh.

ETA: first on 8 for whining about cleaning! That’s not the positive reinforcement I need!

Ya wanna come clean my house? I’ve got boatloads of company coming over on Saturday and I need to steam clean some of my carpets. Le sigh…

Tomorrow’s MMP is ready to go. And I ate a bowl of cereal and some ice cream for lunch. Chickie is thawing for supper.

I think I’ll go knit now. You people with your talk about cleaning ijust tire me out!!!

Actually, FCM, it’s usually you who tires US out with all your talk of home improvment, boat work, yard work, and everything else. You are one BUSY woman.

All y’all who are cleaning today, do you wanna come over and fold my clothes for me?

Zeldadog and I went for a walk down the street cleaning up trash today. I got halfway through the walk and ran out of room in the plastic grocery bag I was carrying. And I wasn’t even picking up everything I saw. There are some trashy sons of around here. I believe I may have to park the Spazmobile (named Polly, btw) on the side of the road and attack the trashiest places with a few tall kitchen bags.

I seriously hate trashy mofos who litter. HATE.

Back from church and brunch at the yummy Mediterranean restaurant. Did I mention yum?

Yeah, $10,000 might be a bit much for a purse. I paid just over that much for my current car. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on a car, too. My next purse is going to be knit because I keep looking for a purse I really like and can’t find one. My current one is a sporty nylon one that I got at Tar-zhey for about $15.

I have no patience for litterers either, Spaz. How hard is it to locate a trash can, really? They’re everywhere.

I just stopped at JoAnn’s and bought the yarn for the purse. It’s going to be black and felted. It’s going to be lined and have lots of pockets. We’ll see how it works out.

Guess I should go clean or wash or otherwise organize something around here.

Back after a bit.

Hullo, y’all! I slept IN this morning–Himself had to get up and make the coffee, ha ha! It was niiiiiice!

FCM, may I suggest a combination of Feliway and some spray catnip for the toys? That ought to get the kittehs to interact a bit more/in a friendlier manner. Catnip has become quite the bonding substance for Pratchett and Stiggs, to the point where either of them can be inadvertantly touched in a casual manner by the other without it escalating into a battle royale. Baby steps… :stuck_out_tongue:

10K for a purse? Is it full of gold doubloons? Color me  !

I paid forty bucks for a Betty bag ten plus years ago and they’ll rebuild it for me in perpetuity–I’ve had it in for a complete refurb twice now. They love it when I bring it in, too, because they can show it off to customers as an example of how they take care of their products. I’m currently schlepping a $13 WallyWorld special and I really ought to take the Betty in again, it’s getting ratty again. This ought to be the last rebuild I do on it, since I’ve decided I don’t really need to carry around what’s basically a decorative daypack so I think she’s gonna get honorably retired to exactly that–a dayhike pack. Sic transi gloria mundi and all that…

My house is all spanky clean aside from the kitchen that’s Himself’s responsibility. He takes for-friggin’-ever to finish the dishes because he fucks off and plays on the computer instead of just getting it DONE. I’m tempted to just whip the fucking thing into shape and then nag him to keep it up… I hate working in a grubby kitchen, and he’s a very casual scullery slut in need of a sound beating.

I made a delicious sketti last night–so delicious there’s none left! Guess Himself was hungry or summat… Tonight’s gonna be shit sammiches if this kitchen doesn’t improve… hrmph!

:Read: :Read: :Read:

Okay. Ahem. If I won the Power Ball I might could buy a $10K purse without blinking. My current purse is a very nice one that my daughter got me for Xmas last year. It is not Coach but another brand and still looks like new. Unfortunately, it will not stay on my shoulder.

dotty, did hubby ask your permission to buy the watch? If not, buy the purse for $1K and give him the hairy eyeball if he objects.

Good choice on the whisky glasses, haze.

I made some really nummy stuffed peppers for dinner last night. Enough left over for lunch today, too. Tonight will be roast turkey breast and smashed NOTs. I am hungry.

See y’all tomorrow.

Tupug

Death Chickie was good, and less greasy because I used only 4 slices of bacon. Daughter has taken my car and my money to go get something for dessert. I’m almost done with the helmet liner for **FCD **to take on Tues.

Taz has been seen grooming Ziva, and she’s been seen batting at his tail. I think they’re becoming buds. Yay.

Scruffy is nagging - gotta let her out, then I’ll finish knitting. Life is good…

<sigh> No chrome gorilla, but I did find a chrome horse statue. The park (really a museum with grounds) also closed at 5 pm and we arrived at 515. Gah. So, another hope, blighted. I hope for death now.
