I’ve never understood the idea that civilians are somehow exempt from the actions of their governments. In this case the German government was trying to forcibly take over all of Europe and was exterminating many people in the process. In order to do this they needed the support of their civilian population. Whether the support was given willingly is irrelevant, as it is still there to allow that government to further its goals. As such this makes them valid targets. And if 40,000 deaths on the enemy’s side save 1 on our side then I’m all for it if there is no other better way to accomplish the goal of stopping whatever war you’re involved in.
Ah, but don’t put the word “win” (or any other word, for that matter) in quotes and state or imply that’s what the person said unless he actually said that exact word or phrase. It’s hardy a matter of mere “semantical nattering.” (see how easy it is to use quotes properly? Practice in your spare time)
And the rest of your post just says how foolish I am, which I find entertaining, though uninformative.
What the hell? I don’t remember ever arguing that the IRA wasn’t a terrorist organiza…
Oh, Millen.
Never mind.
