She handled it just fine, it was just annoying that he kept pressing her on it.
He should know better.
There’s more than a little difference between “we already have and will bolster short barrier sections where they are most needed and effective” and “we’ll build a couple thousand miles of wall along the entire border regardless of any consideration, and somebody else will pay for it”
Is there any recent information as to the state of fundraising? Last time I looked the Harris campaign was significantly ahead of the Trump campaign, but ever since I donated — three times so far — I’ve been inundated with emails asking for more. Lately the overall message is that they’re being outspent three or four to one, and only another $50 from me stands between us and Armageddon.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that this is pretty much standard fundraising rhetoric. And if I’m tempted to be annoyed at the volume (sometimes five or six every time I open my mailbox), I just remind myself of what I would be going through if I’d donated as much as a wooden nickel to the Orange Peril. But I am genuinely curious as to the current status.
Hard to say. There’s the campaigns themselves and the Harris campaign has raised significantly more.
But there’s also all the associated PACs, some of which aren’t known to have the most scrupulous people running them, so how much they’ve actually raised and spent is difficult to say. Beyond that, each campaign is putting somewhat different emphasis on different states and regions.
she could have said that as a californian she knows that tunnels can get around a wall. a wall only keeps out the most desperate. tunnels are how very organized crime groups get in.
As far as the “wall” (fence really), she also could say she’s finishing the job that Trump didn’t do. Simple.
I’m glad that the police have identified and arrested the alleged perpetrator. Hopefully this kind of behavior towards a campaign is an aberration and not the norm.
Harris is really ramping up the star power. Tomorrow in Houston Beyoncé is PERFORMING at the Harris rally. Today she has Springsteen, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Samuel L Jackson. OTOH I just saw a poll with her favorability at -10 which is worse than Trump.
If Harris/Walz win I expect it to become the norm, particularly in red and reddish-purple states.
AIUI, she has raised over $1 billion. I would be interested in seeing where that much money is being spent. And why they feel they need more.
If that doesn’t result in a victory, in a race that is this close, against such a horrible opponent, I think that would be a pretty strong indicator AGAINST the political benefit derived from fund-raising.
They’re planning for a full court legal strategy in minimum ten states and probably more in response to GOP ratfuckery following a potential Dem win. They’ll have hundreds of lawyers on the payroll. It would be hard for them to have too much money.
Said poll being total bullshit and probably pushed by the Russians.
That’s great. But what could make a real difference would be: sports stars (to get the young male vote) and country-music stars (to get the wavering, Trump-is-too-much, usually-GOP voters).
There must be some of each group who realize how bad things could get in this country if Trump gets back in.
You don’t count Beyoncé as a country music star?
What concerned me about the poll that had Harris with a -10 favorability was that it was Kornacki on MSNBC talking about it.
Taylor Swift is also known as a country singer; in fact her career started in country music, and her first two albums were country. She transitioned to a more contemporary/pop music later in her career. Also, she’s dating one of the most high-profile sports stars in the country, so she’s kind of a two-for-one.
I’d like for Harris to have one of those insanely large crowds for a speech, a la Obama in ‘08, who pulled 100,000.
From this time in 2008:

(Can she draw these kinds of crowds? He was a hell of an orator)
Well she’s gonna be at the National Mall to close out the campaign, where Trump held his Jan 6 call-to-insurrection. It’ll be delicious if she can pull more than 53,000, which is what it’s reported Trump got.A hundred grand turning out for her would be awesome.
I saw reporting that she moved it to the Ellipse which is where Trump actually held his rally and that they estimated 17k for the park service.
I don’t know if Jason Isbell is considered country, or maybe alt-country or Americana, or maybe he’s just not a big enough name, but he’s been pretty vocal about his disdain for Trump and he did play a couple of songs one night at the DNC.
