Kamala should run for president again in 2028

Possible, but I think it’s more likely to be a reference to Harris’ tendency to pitch absolutely bizarre policy plans. 2019 gave us pretty much what the poster wrote.
Now Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., has released a plan to forgive student debt. Well, sort of.

Borrowers will have a lot of boxes to check before they can get the $20,000 in student debt forgiveness on the table in her proposal.

They will have to be 1) a Pell Grant Recipient who 2) starts a business in a disadvantaged community and 3) manages to keep that business afloat for at least three years.
I doubt this. (The reason. They may vote against her because she’s too moderate).

I thought the U.S. was too racist to elect Obama, but I voted for him anyway.

IMO, it’s that kind of excessive wonkiness focused at college-educated entrepreneurs that cost her with young people and the working class. Offers of loan forgiveness and tax credits don’t do much for you if being able to afford college was never an option in the first place, and institutional Democrats seem to refuse to accept that we no longer live in a world where a new house costs $10,000 and college tuition is cheaper than a new car.

Correct. The ones yelling the loudest that Black people shouldn’t be allowed to pursue higher office are at best “centrists” and more likely straight up conservatives in progressive clothing who want to normalize racism and sexism even further. After all that is the end result of their wanted policy.

Newsome.

Harris didnt lose due to her race or her sex. She lost due to inflation in the early Biden years. This has been shown over and over. People do not understand inflation or even economics. They do understand the price of eggs.

Is the price of eggs a metaphor or something? Even at $6/doz, that still seems pretty cheap.

Eggs in the USA went up quite a bit, due to inflation and especially bird flu. MAGAs were constantly harping about the price of eggs as if that was Bidens fault.

https://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article295975299.html

Maybe you remember those little stickers on gas pumps with a pic of Joe going “I did that!” indicating Biden was the cause of high gas prices?

Yeah, but who cares? A few dollars a week (if you eat a lot of eggs) isn’t the problem. It must be a symbol for “everything is more expensive.” (and I did read about those stickers, although I haven’t been to a gas pump since 2020)

The people who voted for trump. Inflation is why trump won. True, eggs were a symbol, sure- but since they went up more than inflation, they were used as a tool to elect trump.

Should people base their votes on the price of eggs? No, of course not. The White House has little control over inflation. But people shouldnt vote for trump either. We arent talking about people who are entirely rational or who understand economics.

Nepo baby who got into politics with Getty oil money, is related to the Pelosis, used to be married to Don Jr.'s girlfriend, and who looks like the evil real estate developer in a '90s family movie who wants to tear down the beloved community center to build luxury condos?

No thanks. 2028’s candidate needs to be an AOC-type, not a Hillary Clinton type.

(Also, there’s only one E in Newsom.)

He will be unelectable outside the bluest of states.

Yeah, in my experience with progressives they hated her because she’s a former prosecutor and considered her a fascist. “ACAB!” “No better than Trump!”

He is no more related to the Pelosi’s than i am to the Czar of all the Russias-

Newsom is the second cousin, twice removed, of musician Joanna Newsom. Newsom’s aunt was married to Ron Pelosi, the brother-in-law of former speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. wiki

The rest of your "facts’ are about of the same quality.

They said that about Obama.

My congrats on surviving the Bolshevik purge and staying out of sight for the last 108 years.

“They” being the establishment wing of the party that wanted Hillary Clinton and has gotten their way in every Democratic primary since. I.e. the people who would be backing Newsom.

There are hundreds if not more people living today related to the Czar. There were 53 Romanovs who escaped.

But a second cousin, twice removed , who was married to a former brother in law? Legally that is not related at all. Give me a break. That is MAGA reasoning.

You do realize that is only two primaries, right?

And yeah, the people who would back a winner.

You’re conflating two different people. The second cousin twice removed is not the same person as the aunt who married into the Pelosi family.

2016, 2020, 2024. That’s 3.

Which is why we’re all looking forward to President Harris’ inauguration now that President Clinton’s second term is coming to an end, right?

wrong

The “Newsom” in “Newsom’s aunt” is Gavin, not Joanna. You can tell this because she has her own Wikipedia page and it says she’s married (present tense) to Andy Samberg, not Ron Pelosi.

It was a big deal; people like JD Vance even did press stunts holding up a carton of eggs.
Inflation was the #1 issue, poll after poll said that, and eggs were the poster child of inflation thanks to being an everyday item that spiked particularly high (thanks to bird flu, but the average voter didn’t seem aware of this).

Yeah people will never vote for someone with inherited wealth, just ask Trump or Musk.

And in terms of wealthy backers, politics in the US is hella expensive and everyone needs big backers at some point. Just ask Musk.

I know an obvious response is that the left-wing is different; we don’t want to elect rich boys who are backed largely by corporate interests. I would agree with that sentiment but I also don’t think we should pre-emptively handicap ourselves, and I don’t think it matters that much with voters. Rightly or wrongly, a candidate’s history hardly matters at all compared to the messaging today.

I think we (I mean democrats) have quite a few billionaire donors and supporters as well…starting from Soros to Bill Gates, Bloomberg and others. Are we not unduly focussed on Musk and kind of frightened/obsessed on him ?

I am learning to ignore most Musk related things lately though it’s not easy as even here in India if I switch on the TV news, there is Elon Musk everywhere.
