Karaoke Fans: Need Male Duets

My friend and his brother are entering in a karaoke competition. They both have excellent voices and want to do something out of the ordinary for this Duets competition.

Can you think of any songs that would have good harmonys or that could use two male voices? Bluesy, rock, anything that will get the crowd on their feet. Something DIFFERENT!!! Thanks in advance!

“Wonderboy” by Tencious D

Something nice and rockin’ by the Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, like “Sloop John B”?
A more obscure Simon and Garfunkel selection like “The Only Living Boy In New York”?
How about a duet traditionally sung by a man and a woman, like Meat Loaf and Ellen Foley’s “Paradise By the Dashboard Light,” or even two women?

“If I had a Million Dollars” by Bare Naked Ladies. This song is a blast to do, I’ve sung with a friend of mine a lot on this one. It’s usually pretty popular with the crowd, and while the verses are set up as a call-and-answer, you can get some good harmonies going in the chorus.

“To all the girls I’ve loved before” by Willie Nelson & Julio Inglesias? Male/male duets are pretty slim in most karaoke books I’ve browsed.

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), Proclaimers

Anything by the Righteous Brothers.

“The Girl is Mine” by McCartney and Jackson

If they’d really like to make it a memorable night make a duet out of Digital Underground’s “Kiss You Back”. :stuck_out_tongue:

But for a serious suggestion Soul Decison’s “Faded” is a good popish blue-eyed soul number with earworm potential.

Easy Lover, Phil Collins and Philip Bailey.

“Common People,” by William Shatner and Joe Jackson. They ROCK on it.

“Hatred” by the Kinks

Katie Wants A Fast One by Steve Wariner and Garth Brooks is a rip-roaring crowd pleasing duet that if pulled off right, can earn a standing ovation from your crowd.

Same artists, Burning The Roadhouse Down is another, though not nearly as kick ass as Katie.

I know you didn’t ask for country, but you did ask for something different.

I have a friend who is still a karaoke host. Our big number was Toto’s “Rosanna.” For this song, one of you absolutely has to be a tenor.

The first band that popped to mind was Linkin Park, but they’re hardly out of the ordinary.

Give a listen to Iron and Wine. It’s just one guy, but he harmonizes with himself. Might be doable by two people. And while it’s pretty out of the ordinary, it is pretty mellow also.

He asks for male duets, and no one offers anything from Hall and Oates, the top duet of the rock & roll era?

Out of Touch, Man Eater, Private Eyes.

Air Supply is just two grown men singing love songs to each other. :stuck_out_tongue:

When two guys are doing duets, it is required that they do “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi.

“Father and Son” by Cat Stevens.

‘Dancing in the Street’ - the Jagger/Bowie version. I’ve done this before with a mate, and it is both ‘fun’, plus you can compete in hamming up the Jagger/Bowie affectations if you so desire. It’s the only male-male duet I’ve noticed in karaoke books.

Actually, I just noticed you wanted something ‘different’ - maybe use this as a back-up if the others aren’t available…
