Kate Middleton is pregnant

I agree.

Has anyone called her an ‘attention whore’ yet?

Meanwhile, America’s Finest News Source reports that the other nurse thought it was funny.

If we are, then those calling for the DJ’s deaths are responsible for them if they happen. I don’t believe that and neither do you.

For those of you that believe the dj’s were somehow culpable in Ms. Saldana’s death are you also going to blame the hospital for not having call display as well? For that matter, if she was let go by the hospital wouldn’t that have been a significant stressor?

More points to ponder…

I was going to revive this thread with a joke about royal baby names, but then read the posts I hadn’t read before–I forgot how serious this all got.

Well, now you mention it, I reckon it was about silly accents. Many Brits and quite a few Aussies probably would recognize the accents as put on. But Ms. Saldanha was from India–apparently a part once colonized by Portuguese, with a name like Jacintha Saldanha–and thus used to a different range of English-language accents. She might have had a harder time distinguishing between different variations on a British/Australian accent. (We had a thread about foreigners not differentiating regional accents not so long ago.)

Can someone who’s not a Brit or an Aussie even tell a bad Aussie put-on of a British accent from an actual upper-class British accent? As a Yank, I might not catch it short of someone slipping up and accidentally talking like Yahoo Serious.

Oh well.

The press are reporting that Ms. Saldanha had been treated for suicidal depression before.

I keep thinking of some young Yank acquaintances from years ago, and their insistence that Princess Di was killed by the royal family because she was an embarrassment. The conspiracy theorists will no doubt point to this as evidence that the Windsors have killers working to punish anyone who crosses them. Of course, that doesn’t make a lot of sense, unless there’s some royal hangers-on trying to be terroristic. I don’t see why this particular nurse would be the target of a royal conspiracy.

OK, possibly some random royal-lover killed her. More likely someone at the hospital, or someone who thought an apparent suicide was a good way to cover up murder. But not the royals themselves.

More likely everyone involved got some blowback (from the press, various fans of royals, possibly certain persons–how do you say–at court) and Ms. Saldanha took it hard. Given the nature of the British press, and the way some nitwits will treat [del]immigrants[/del] anyone, I can see that.

I liked that blog post. Thanks for that.

Screw that, let’s talk silly baby names again!

The press have been remarkably silent on the other nurse though, the one who **actually **gave out the details. Does that mean s/he hasn’t been put under the same amount of pressure?

I think the hospital staff in general was under some stress due to the spotlight being on them from the nonsense that passes for the news cycle in England. Saldanha broke first and hardest, maybe?

OK, baby names. Let’s figure four Christian names, like Wills and Harry have.

There are no Georges in the present Royal Fam, except for Charles Philip Arthur George. Maybe they’re saving it.

It seems likely that a firstborn son would share at least one Christian name with his grandfather, and George is the patron saint of England, after all. But what if Wills and Kate have a girl?

What’s a good feminine of George? Georgette?

This pregnancy has been horrendous enough they may have to stop at one child, so they may want to get the names-honoring-relatives out of the way with the girl.

I earlier suggested Caroline, as an alteration of Carole (Kate’s mother’s name), and feminine form of Charles of course. I was forgetting that one of the Grimaldis is called Princess Caroline. Perhaps Charlotte would be better.

They may give a nod to Wills’s mother, but I don’t think they’ll call the tyke Diana. So, Frances; it was Di’s middle name, and St. Francis is a good namesake in general.

And for the last, I was going to give a nod to ol’ Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and suggest Alberta, but maybe it should be a form of Philip as a nod to the Mountbatten-Windsor patriarch. Philippa is Kate’s sister’s name, and maybe an alternate form is called for

So, something like Charlotte Philippa Frances Georgette.

No, even finer, Carolina Philippina Frances Georgia. The perfect name for a future Queen of Great Britain!

I’d be good with Carolina Dakota Philippina Tahiti Frances Georgia.

Pippa’s middle name is Charlotte so I wonder if those names are out. I think Georgiana is more likely than Georgia or Georgette as it has more of a royal history. I think the only thing we can say for certain is that Diana will be in there somewhere if the baby is a girl.

Have they revealed the due date yet? Or at least the due month?

I’m calling Elizabeth Mary Diana Caroline for a girl or Louis Charles Phillip John for a boy.
Elizabeth - two popular queens by this name, nice tribute to granny and great granny.
Mary - QE2’s granny
Diana - goes without saying
Caroline - I like the idea of a nod to Catherine’s mum while still using a name with royal history
Louis - from William’s own set of names
Charles - goes without saying
Phillip and John from Will’s two grandfathers.

Btw, if the Grimaldi Princess Caroline knocks Caroline out of the running, does her daughter Charlotte knock Charlotte out too? Maybe not because she isn’t Princess Charlotte. The only Princess amongst Princess Caroline’s children is her youngest child, Princess Alexandra.

Good thing they’re not American royalty.

The girl could be saddled with

Madison Amber Brooklynn Chastity Kaieylynne

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That sounds like a porn name to me. Is there a niche market of “royalty porn”?

There is now.

I’m curious why you’ve thrown Dakota in - as a warning to the colonials that Wills & family might have ambitions in reclaiming the former Empire?

I threw in Tahiti too. What do you think that means?

Meh, don’t care, don’t have a personal connection to that name

Or you think its where the kid was conceived?

I really think Mary will be in the kid’s name somewhere if it’s a girl. As others have mentioned it would be a shout out to Queen Mary, the consort of George V and the grandmother of the current monarch.

That woman had a stiff upper lip like no other, and helped revive respect for the monarchy. When she died just nine weeks before the coronation of her granddaughter she left specific instructions that mourning for her should not derail preparations for the event.

I lwould also like a Charlotte or Caroline.
