What connection? Is there a Dakota in the UK?
I guess I still can’t deliver a punchline. I expected groans, instead we get arguments.
Naw. To foreshadow by 28 years the fact that she’ll be slain in the prime of her royal life outside of an infamous hotel.
By a woman trying to impress Daniel Radcliffe.

Palace confirms due date in mid-July. No word on the baby’s sex or whether it’s twins.
Apparently she almost refered to her daughter before stopping mid-sentence.
Does her daughter’s name get reported Over There as Carlotta, Carlota or Charlotte Casiraghi? I don’t think it should be a problem that “omg someone else has the same name”, but the Grimaldis have both versions.
And that, for all the people who question what the royals do to earn their keep, is what they have to do day in day out. Pretty much entirely unreported. The World’s Most Boring Job.
Hey, the rest of us normal folk have to pay six quid to get into the fishing museum. I bet Kate didn’t pay a penny!
I have no grudge against the royal family, they are harmless enough and I certainly don’t think they “need” to pay their way – they’re a historical quirk that needs to be presented. But I bet plenty of people would disagree that shaking hands with excitable plebs and minor civic dignitaries all day in return for a life of luxury and wealth is particularly onerous or dull.
Place your bets!: Royal Baby Names: What The Brits Are Betting On For Kate Middleton And Prince William | HuffPost Life
They almost certainly will not pick names that haven’t already been used in the royal family, at least not for a first name. So Diana as a first name is a no-go.
I’m going for Caroline Frances Elizabeth Louise, if it’s a girl. Caroline is a name of a number of British princesses over the generations, and a variation of the child’s grandmother’s name, Carole Middleton. Frances is the second name of the child’s other grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Elizabeth is a nod to the kid’s great-grandmother, the current monarch QEII. Louise is the feminine form of Louis, one of William’s middle names.
If it’s a boy I’m going to say that Eliahna’s choices, of Louis Charles Phillip John sounds pretty good. I might have thought the kid would have the first name George, but it’s been used a lot in the last couple of generations. And Charles, Prince of Wales, has said he may take the reign name of George VII. So if a boy was named George, and used it to reign under, that would be three George in five generations of monarchs. And if the boy was named Louis(for several relatives) he wouldn’t have to use it as a reign name, he could use Charles and become Charles III. I doubt a boy would choose Phillip or John to reign under, given the negative histories of the names, but they are fine for family use.
I think that’s just speculation by third parties, not anything he’s said.
Oops, my bad. There hasn’t been a Charles as king in a long time, the later 1600’s, so maybe it’s time again. That would be Charles III if he uses his given first name.
I also would have thought a girl might be Victoria, but who would want to ha ve the title of Victoria II? Talk about living under a shadow.
How is that any worse than Elizabeth II?
Fair point. Victoria looms a bit larger in the contemporary British political culture than Elizabeth I did in 1952, though.
But no one thought she’d become queen when she was born. Whereas William’s firstborn will become monarch as long as he/she outlives him.
Besides, the queen of Sweden will be a Victoria by that point - might want to avoid having two of them.
I’m going with Charlotte Alexandra. Nice traditional royal names, need a new airing out by now (and named for the two most recent female heirs to the throne, except Elisabeth II herself).
For a boy, Charles George Albert Henry. Because why the hell not.
BTW, isn’t it cool that so many crowned heads will be female in a few generations? The only scandinavian monarchy running all boys is the danish one.
This might be part of the reason why the new Dutch king chose to reign simply as Willem-Alexander rather than Willem IV as was expected.
I am going to predict that her due date is earlier than she’s told us. I can’t say I blame her. Diana did that to help throw reporters off the scent. I bet she’ll give birth before July 4th. Are the Brits aware of the significance of the American holiday at all?
Charlotte or Caroline would also make sense. And then Diana, Elizabeth and Alexandra for middle names. It makes me almost want to be royal just to get two more baby name picks. I could have used Ida in the third spot and gotten my mom to stop bitching. Then again who wants be around Charles voluntarily? He comes across as such a bore.
She’s been pretty vague about the date. I think the only official time is “mid-July.” Depending on how the date was calculated and when (if) it is in “mid-July”, we might already be getting close to the margin of error on that.
