Kate Middleton Pregnant?

I think she is a Princess because she is married to a prince, but not Princess Catherine. She is a princess by marriage, not birth. I think she could be called Princess William.

Well, of course, but just try explaining that to all the people talking about “Princess Diana”!

I heard people referring to her as “Lady Di” LONG after her marriage and even after her death, so this stuff really is too complicated for some people.

And it’s only relatively recently that we stopped calling the former Duchess of York “Fergie” (and started calling her “Sarah Ferguson”). So that “Princess William” stuff just ain’t gonna fly. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s like you don’t even have a name any more. Only a title, a label they stick on you.

Diana was Princess of Wales; Charles was Prince of Wales when they married. And I believe Diana was a “Lady” before her marriage.

I know that. I’m saying there were still people calling her “Lady Di” well after she became the Princess of Wales. If they couldn’t make that distinction, how could they understand that, properly speaking, she should not have been called “Princess Diana” either, because she was not born royal?

I still miss her. Weird.

She is Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge (although I think capitalizing the “The” is a bit much, truth be told). Not technically a princess.

That website keeps calling her “the Duchess” and “Her Royal Highness.” No name, only titles. Yup.

She is technically a princess. Her husband is a prince*, which is enough to make her a princess. It came up before, when they were wondering what would happen in the relatively novel situation of a commoner (Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in that case) marrying a prince. Eventually the palace released a statement saying that “in accordance with the settled general rule that a wife takes the status of her husband, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on her marriage has become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of York, with the status of a Princess.”

*From George V’s letters patent of 1917: “The children of the sons of any such Sovereign…shall have and at all times hold and enjoy the style title or attribute of Royal Highness with their titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their respective Christian names or with their other titles of honour.”

I don’t know her from a hole in the ground & have never met anyone w/i 6 degrees of separation of her. Yet I still wish her well & some privacy (Godwin just roto-tilled an acre of earth in my honor for me daring any stifling of the press until the end of the second trimester).
I think we waited until my wife was second trimester before we told either of our parents. We’re not famous, but wouldn’t it be shitty if they’d already learned of it first from ‘The Weekly World Oooze’ at the checkout stand?

sigh
Okay, we’ll call them Bill and Kathy then.

I like it!

So what were they supposed to call her?

One of my favorite fashion blogs calls them “Bill and Cathy Cambridge.”

I heard it’s quads but 2 are surrogate babies; one each for Edward and Andrew.

I heard they were going to adopt the latest Duggar baby.

Glad Kate has a little something to remember our special night together.

A guy can dream can’t he?

HRH The Princess Of Wales. It’s in the post you quoted…

The Princess of Wales is, but not HRH. But I meant in terms of like…a name. Isn’t HRH the Princess of Wales more of a title than a name?

They were supposed to call the “the Princess of Wales” or just “Diana” but not “Princess Diana,” because she was not born royal. Same deal with Kate.

That has a nice ring to it.
