Uh, no. GROWN MEN whistling and hooting at LITTLE GIRLS doesn’t prove “that boys like girls”. Give me a fucking break.
And my experiences back up Ellen’s, along with all of my (girl) friends. The shitty, embarrassing, humiliating street harassment started when we were OBVIOUSLY not grown women or even just above the age of consent. And while I definitely experienced the joy of boys my own age harassing me at school, every fucking one of those street harassers were GROWN MEN.
(Pokes in to make a comment on how the difference between Chloe Grace Moritz being hot and looking 12 is about 15 months …thinks better of it and leaves)
Why is it that when there are threads like this one, there are a handful of comments that make me ashamed to be part of the same sex as a bunch of troglodytes?
Don’t harass women. Don’t sexualize girls. Don’t minimize the painful experiences so many women had while growing up. How hard is this, people?
NOTICE TO ALL MEN: There is NO tasteful way to compliment a woman’s tits, unless she’s your wife or girlfriend. NONE. Just STFU. Never, ever, ever say anything about boobs.
To be fair, I once worked at an office with these cubicles and one time this very good looking man walked down and as he walked past it was like boing, boing, boing - all these women sticking their heads out following him.
Sadly, they seem to be the ones who get the attention. There is a school of thought, and I’m in no position to disagree, that says there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
Any heavy poster to a board will have a few train wreck threads. Often initiated by a badly thought out and rushed reply to another poster. That leads to a stream of ill-conceived posts & replies that were better left unsaid. It isn’t pretty. Train wrecks on a board never are.
At least in real life people *eventually *will forget the times you’ve made a jack ass out of yourself. It’s immortalized in ASCII code for all to sneer and jeer at here. Not much to do but acknowledge it and move on.
Newbies out there. Stay the hell away from any threads dealing with alleged sexual harassment, innuendo, or assault. They always go terribly wrong and derail eventually.
Here’s another: maybe you have some disrespectful feelings and beliefs about girls and women, whether conscious or subconscious, that you could think about and improve, if you want.
I bet his life was pure hell. There’s nothing that can make you feel like shit more than being looked at as an object of desire. Were that not the case people would be spending billions of dollars a year on clothing and makeup to make themselves even more attractive, and of course they don’…oh wait.
Every single person I’ve ever known who was attractive reveled in it. Generally the only time attention was unappreciated was when it came from someone whose looks the good-looking person didn’t like.
