Is there really not a way to do it with ABP?
So Katie Couric does an interview in Harper’s and gets fancy dressed-up for a photo shoot. BFD. Brian Williamshas done 30 Rock, Saturday Night Live, Leno, Letterman, Conan, Fallon, Kimmel, The Daily Show, The Simpsons, Sesame Street, Bonnie Hunt and Rachel Ray. Where’s the fuckin’ outrage?
Ditto. I think she’s out of her element in the Conkrite-Rather seat but she was great on Today. And she is still a cutey!
Not that I think that anyone (least of all Brian Williams) cares what I think, but BW strikes me as someone who probably has a giant ego, and positively drips with a sense of smugness and self satisfaction.

Took me a while to figure this out :smack:
And by “done” you mean…?
She must have had the questions fed to her, how could she come up with a question as deviously clever as asking Sarah what publications she reads?
I prefer Fox. They have some really smart people there. One of them even knew how to spell Czar so she was able to look it up. Couric would looked it up under “z”. Heh, heh.
She’s cute and perky and all that, but I suspect that in person she’s one of those people who just can’t stop talking, and after twenty minutes of hanging around her I might want to hurt one of us.
Meh, she’s hardly the first news-reader ever to do a fluff piece for a magazine.
So, because there are problems in the world, nobody is allowed to lighten up? Lighten up.
Whatever you think of Couric as a journalist, I don’t see how this article registers on the rage-o-meter.
Cute but stupid. I wouldn’t mind giving her my own colonoscopy.
How many Courics does she weigh?
I had the hots for NBC Katie. I don’t particularly for CBS Katie.
Women who are that cute and perky on camera are usually witches in real life.
I believe it was Eve of Blessed Memory who gave my favorite description of her: “America’s Attack Muppet”.
Hot as two dollar pistol.
Way back when - as Bryant Gumbel left the Today Show, people were saying what a pompous ass he was (and I agree), but in an interview, he commented how Couric was getting all the love for being the nice, sweet girl and Gumbel said something to the effect, “…well, I am not the one who fired their personal assistants almost weekly…”, hinting that Ms. Couric was not quite Little Miss Sunshine in the personality department either.
I think you are all underestimating Ms. Couric. She and I both attended the University of Virginia, and she excelled academically. Because she is cute and perky, the assumption is that she is also stupid*. Not so. She uses that impression to her advantage - on the Today show she was notorious for slipping a really tough question in on people who had assumed she was all fluff.
I won’t disagree that some of the stuff on her show is stupid, but she’s working what she has. Don’t assume that she isn’t sharp and cynical about the game she’s playing.
*People make a similar assumption about women who are both large and kind. Or who dress fashionably. Or who don’t pay enough attention to fashion. Or…
She’s all right. I don’t care for her news program because she does do so much fluff (at least she did when she started.), but I think you would be a fool to underestimate her. She is a cutie, but she’s perfectly capable of doing her job. I just prefer Brian Williams.
It seems that way, and it might be, but I’ve seen him do interviews and other appearances, particularly one on NPR (Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, I think?) and I thought he was pretty hilarious. Any time I see him other than reading the news, he just seems kind of goofy (in a good way).
