KC Royal's coach attacked by 2 fans in Chicago

dantheman - mea culpa. Cowboy Joe West Lives! Yippee eye oh tay ay!

Good ol’ John McSherry is no longer with us.

Both are ‘good guys’.

Welcome to Chicago, where baseball fans steal Dodgers’ caps, rush the pitcher’s mound, try to beat the crap out of 1st base coaches twice their age. Basketball fans here overturn police cars and smash and loot stores in victory celebrations. I love my city, I do; but why does it always happen here?!

Are you kidding me? Have you ever been to a ballgame here? You can’t keep shirts on some of these guys. It’s just a given for some of 'em: walk in the gates, take off shirt. I have a theory: the likelihood of a man taking off his shirt at a ballgame is directly proportional to the size and hairiness of his gut.

The Bleacher Creatures do that at Wrigley a lot…

By the way, Corbomite, don’t quite agree with West being a “good guy.” He’s one who had a decided bias against the Phillies. We would openly antagonize them and their fans when he could, more so than any other ump I’ve seen.

he heh heh { and on and on }

Let’s say he was equally unfair to all teams and if you don’t agree - let’s ask him to see who he can throw farthest. You go first.

So you’ve been to Wrigley, where they play games outdoors on grass during the daytime. That is baseball. I watched Kerry Wood at Shea the other day on TV - man - he’s like the oldest looking 24 year old I’ve seen!

I have my #17 Mark Grace home jersey and they better not give that number out.

D’backs -v- Yankees - The Rematch. This time home field advantage is in the amusement park in Arid Zone Land.

Dibs on the pool!

Yup, I’ve been to Wrigley. In 1992, me and two friends went on a 2-week trip, visiting stadiums. We saw:

  1. Three Rivers in Pittsburgh

  2. Riverfront in Cincinnati

  3. Busch in St. Louis

  4. Wrigley in Chicago

  5. Comiskey in Chicago

  6. County in Milwaukee

  7. Tiger in Detroit

  8. Skydome in Toronto

Quite a trip. :slight_smile:

They will not. There would be extreme outrage from Cubs fans.

They better not ::brandishing fist::

Gundy - that’s funny stuff. I like to (at least think) I get along with all baseball fans.

Maybe not in Chicago. I rode the train there to meet a girl - and traded my all-blue Mets cap for a red and blue Cubs cap - and bought her a cool throwback cap.

Now that I think of it - I wore that cap and the #17 Mark Grace home jersey to a game at Shea, against that Georgia team that has a problem selling all the seats to their playoff games. Some mutterings, but no umpires or line coaches charged at me and beat me up.

The #17 is an homage to Keith Hernandez. Long ago, the Mets and Cubs were rivals and played more than six games against eachother.

The Cubs are my 2nd favourite team.

I don’t have the link, but a follow-up article said they didn’t take their shirts off until they were ready to rush the field. They also left their wallets and the dad’s cell phone with their companions (I believe they were with two nephews and another son).

Don’t forget that this incident was apparently premeditated. The goober father called his (sister? wife? slut-ho girlfriend? bookie?) and told them to watch the game; the person replied that they didn’t have cable, so the goober father told them to check the news, cause he was gonna be all over it.

It was his sister that he called. The mother, I might add, of one of the pre-teens who accompanied them.
