Keeping graphical login for Windows XP

I have a friend who is in his 80s. He knows enough to do lots of things on his computer, but there are some things he just doesn’t understand. He owns an XP laptop that his son bought for him. His sons name is Roger and because he bought the computer it was set up to log him in. They also set up an account for his father Glenn.

For the longest time when Glenn turned on the computer it would come up with the login screen that you had to type the name in and it defaulted to Roger. Glenn used this until a month or so ago when I switched it over to the graphical login where he just clicked on the computer. Recently it has switched back to the type in the name login and defaults back to Roger.

My questions are, how can I force the machine to keep the graphical login? I don’t think Glenn would have done anything to change that though of course he could have. Baring that how can I make it default to Glenn’s name instead of Roger? Also is there a way to just make Glenn the default person an have no login at all?

I don’t have XP anymore so I can’t just walk him through the steps on the phone. He also lives a good 50 miles away so just driving there when he needs help doesn’t work.

And here is how to automatically log on.

Isn’t there an easier way to do this? I know that two of our Vista machines allows us to just turn the thing on and go. I think, though not sure, that there was a way to just tell it to just login. We did have a few users on the primary family machine that I’ve since turned off. There’s not a simple way to do this in XP?

Gfactor, I’ve actually done that, but it has since gone back to the traditional login screen.

Whoops. I shouldn’t have assumed that a Microsoft KB article would necessarily show the least convoluted way to accomplish this. Here you go. That way is a thousand times easier.
