For those of us who daon’t have Media Player installed, can you give us the text-only Rdr’s Dgst version?
Here’s a link to the video and a transcript. Good stuff.
Thanks lightnin’.
The basic premise is that Bush’s should apologize for getting the troops involved in a war under flase pretenses and without the support the deserve. He criticizes the Republicans, Bush and his clan specifically, for basically being dishoinest, win-at-all-cost scum.
And then he gets nasty.
Standing Ovation!!!
That was The Best political speech, Bar None, within the past 10 years.
I just may make this little op-ed piece required reading in my American Government classes on Monday.
It’s funny to me that most posters on the SDMB hate Bill OReilly yet love Olbermann who is basically a carbon copy of O’Reilly just with a liberal perspective.
That would be true only if Olbermann starts lying about having won a Peabody Award and gets sued for sexual harassment.
Hmmm. I just read the transcript of the Olbermann monologue, and I couldn’t find the lies. I don’t think he is a carbon copy.
Yeah, I’m going to need at least one citation where KO intentionally distorted the “facts” to create an impression that was favorable to his own political persuasion. Needless to say, it’s pretty easy to do this with BO’R.
I think it’s safe to say that not all posters you refer to “hate” O’Reilly for what he believes; instead, some of us hate him because he’s so frequently dishonest with the truth to prop up what he believes.
I also “hate” O’Reilly because he’s smug in his dishonesty- whenever I watch him, all I want to do is punch him in the nose. It’s all about ratings and trashing the liberals, for Bill.
Olbermann at least appears to be honestly concerned for the country. Whether it’s an act, I dunno- but he appears to be sincere about it. And I’ve never heard him specifically go after conservatives- if someone’s being a jerk, he calls 'em a jerk.
I hate O’Reilly as much as anyone but to his credit, he didn’t join in the Kerry pile on. He actually said he thought it wasn’t believable that Kerry was talking about the troops.
I like KO, but I’m starting to think maybe he should do his “special comments” a little less frequently. If he does it too much, they have less impact. Still, I wish some of our elected Democrats had anything close to that kind of fire.
I’m probably the biggest Olbermann fan on this board, but I have to agree-I fear people will be turned off if he does the special comments too much. But I adore him just the same, and I do LOVE his commentary. (And he’s sooooo sexy when he gets all fired up like that!)
It’s sad that he’s the only one out there willing to speak out, at least in the news.
Debaser, Billo WISHES he was half as erudite as Keith.
I would agree except the Republicans make it hard to dial it back when they are constantly doing the sort of things that need to be railed upon.
Absolutely, which is why I only reluctantly agree with Dio. I love his special comments, I’m only afraid that they MIGHT lose their impact if he does them too often.
I, on the other hand, could watch him 24-7.
Does Olbermann put lies into people’s heads?
Unfortunately, stuffed shirt BillO incorrectly thinks he is more erudite than KO is.
YouTube only exists for me so that I can watch KO’s commentaries. The last 10 or so have been brutal and brilliant. If you want the best ones, try the 2 or 3 where he talks about the suspension of habeas corpus- your head might explode.
OLE!!! Y CON UN PAR!!!
Viva Olbermann! Hopefully his cojones will have some impact on all the wimpy Democrats that seem to live to be afraid of King George and telling The Truth.
The commentaries are available on the MSNBC web site at well as Crooks & Liars web site. More often than not, both include transcripts.
