Keith Olbermann should kill himself

My 2 favorite things about this thread were the initial trolling from the op and the pile on that made SA disappear.

No, work made SA disappear. And it’s about to do so again.

Curses!

That’s pretty Zeny of them.

Oh they are zaney all right.

OK, work makes him disappear…all right, so if all of us with jobs call in and volunteer to work a shift on Saturday, for free or whatever it takes, and maybe if a thousand of us are all working at the same time…

I know people like that, whenever there’s something that needs to be done, they vanish. Poof. Maybe it’s some sort of magical power.

Indeed, Buddhist monks should be taking lessons.

So every person who ever engaged in hard work, either physical or mental, ultimately achieved wealth in proportion to their labor? No other factor was involved, just hard work?

I watch Olbermann and, generally, agree with his positions. However, I must admit that I’ve grown a bit tired of his special comments. I guess, for me, they’d be a little more tolerable if he could control his verbal stumbling a bit better. I tend to get so caught up in his mispronunciations and subsequent corrections, and anticipation of his next one, that my focus on the content of his presentation begins to suffer, and I feel all but spent when he’s finally done.

Having said all that, however, his WTF segment from the last two nights have, IMO, been great. And, in the vernacular of the kids today, Keith owned Hannity at the end of last night’s segment (or is that pwned?), totally dismissing him.

‘Owned’ and ‘pwned’ are both acceptable. Also, note that ‘pwned’ is pronounced like ‘owned’ with a ‘p’ before the ‘o’. None of this ‘pooned’ or trying to pronounce the w.

Has anyone here seen Godot? I was told to wait right here, by this tree, and he would be along…and that he would be passing by on Saturday, and today’s Saturday!

Word, brutha. My roommate actually says pwned in conversation and pronounces it like pooned. It’s all I can do to avoid starting that fight.

Unless the Liberal Media sabotaged them. Or the government sabotaged them. Or any other right-wing bugaboo sabotaged them.

Basically, if you ignore any and all inconvenient exceptions to the rule…yes.

It’s amazing to me the amount of explication that has to go on around here, on the smartest message board on the planet.

Of course hard work alone won’t bring about a wealthy or comfortable lifestyle. No matter how hard you work flipping burgers, if you seek only to do that you will not become more affluent.

On the other hand, if you engage in the kind of hard work that I described above where you save your money, educate yourself, look for opportunity, take risks, work long and hard for however long it takes, and persevere, your chances of getting ahead are pretty good.

I think you know perfectly well that has not been my contention that sheer physical labor is enough to produce affluence, and that my real contention - which you and your like-minded cronies are loathe to admit - is that no one’s wealth is keeping anyone else from getting ahead according to their own ability and willingness to work for it.

And now I have to go get some tacos (real Mexican tacos, not that Taco Bell crap). And after that I might visit some friends. Or I might go for a drive. Or read a book. Who knows? Anyway, I’m out for a while. Y’all have a good day now, y’hear?

Well, you better get the real ones, the “franchise” ones are crap. Some day I will expound on the family owned “hole in the wall” a block away from my place. Heaven.

Of course the revenue from taxes belongs to the government, but the underlying property, DOES NOT. If I have $10M mansion, does the government own it because it’s value is greater than the current estate tax exemption? Do they file a tax lein against every property that’s worth more than $XX Million? No, they don’t. Because they don’t own it, and have no legal claim against it, not until said taxes are actually due and payable.

The equation does not change if it’s my salary or other income. It is mine. If my neighbor were to take any of it for his use, it would be conversion, aka theft. If the government does it, under penalty of law, and at gunpoint, it’s called taxes. It’s still theft, IMO.

{shrugs} Both poned and pooned sound dumb to me, so what do I know? Actually, pooned sounds like a brag from a girl about a sexual conquest, and therefore doubly wierd:

“Hey Cassie, guess what?”
“What?”
“I totally pooned Mike last night.”
“No…Way”
“Way. And I was like 'I hope it was good ‘cause you can’t come back for seconds.’”
[high five]

:stuck_out_tongue:

Let me up. So, now we’ve moved from making up juvenile, stupid, internet terms, to making up pronounciations for said juvenile, stupid, internet terms?

Isn’t that just…precious.

The Crisis Continues.

[bolding mine]

So there is a non-zero amount of chance involved, even when somebody does it your way. Sounds like you just agreed with askeptic, when he said

So you are saying the conservative mantra is pretty much the same as the liberal mantra.

So what are you bwahahahing about?
