Ken Burns is doing Jazz - WHOOPPEEEE!!!!

I’m so excited, I can’t wait. He’s doing an 18.5 hour documentary on Jazz from the 1800’s to the present (with the bulk being the 30’s 40’s and 50’s)

It’s coming in January. Anyone else as excited and impatient as me? (UkeI’m sure you have some interest)

BTW here’s an interview on the subject:

Should be amazing!

Moe, I’m gonna hijack your thread for a sec - how’s school? My guitar & voice lessons are going famously!
(email me if you don’t want to do this here - I tried to email you to ask but it bounced back).

What’s weird about this is that, after enjoying his Civil War and Baseball series, I told my wife, “He should do one on Jazz!” I shit you not. True story. As I live and breathe.

Magdalene Hi ya! That’s wierd, I don’t know why that email got bounced back, but I only go to work a few hours a week, now that I’m back in school, so I don’t check that email often, but feel free to email me at kenny5277@aol.com (I’m gonna update my profile right after I do this).
No, I don’t mind going off on a tangient here (given the forum).
School is great!! I wake up every mourning happy to be alive (well, most of the time) because I know that most of my activities that lie ahead in the day involve learning about what I love. Probably the only problem I have is finding a balance between jazz and classical study, but that’ll come in time.
I’m in the jazz combo, which is performing a short set in a month, and I’m soooooooo excited about that (as well as nervous).
But anyway, I’m glad to hear your lessons are going so well. Tell me more about it! What are you studying?

On second thought, maybe this would be more suited to an email. But what the heck? I’ll leave it here in case others want to get in on the discussion. If necessary I can always start a new thread.

and C.E. Wow! good call! I guess great minds do think alike.

Here’s a campanion site for the show, scheduled to be up in Nov.

(as well as an opportunity for me to bump this up)

What? nobody else is excited?

C’mon show me some love jazz fans.
BTW, if anyone happens to be in the Eastern LI area and digs jazz, I’ll be performing with the jazz combo in Stonybrook Dec. 7th I think.

I’m looking forward to it, because Burns always does a wonderful job. I hope he interviewed Albert Murray and all them Marsalises:::crossing fingers:::
