Saw part 1 last night, and really liked it. I didn’t follow baseball too closely in the 1990s so it’s all new (or mostly so) to me. Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, Griffey, Torre, Steinbrenner, etc. Quite a story, and very, very well told. Part 2 airs here tonight.
I’m subscribing to this thread, but my comments will be a few days behind: I didn’t learn about The Tenth Inning until late last night, so I recorded the 6am re-broadcast. Tonight’s broadcast conflicts with two other shows I’m already recording, so I’ll get part two at 6am tomorrow, as well. I probably won’t finish watching both parts until the weekend. I’m looking forward to it, though, and am encouraged by your positive review of part one!
I couldn’t watch it. I think Burns does a great job, but that era of baseball is what made me stop watching it for 10 years (not the steroids - the strike). I flipped through and caught a few moments right as they were introducing the steroid stuff, and Burns spent all of about 2 sentences glossing over the rampant amphetamine use. I heard Pedro Martinez was a fantastic interviewee, though.
