Kenny Rogers, put that camera down!

What galls me even more is that he made the All-Star team, and his bonus for that feat equals $50,000.

The PLayers Association owns MLB. Selig is their bitch. This is just more proof.

I feel he should recieve a 40 game suspension (w/o pay) and kicked off the All-Star team. I also feel that the appeals process in Major League suspensions is a joke. An appeal should be heard right away–within 3 days of the suspension–not scheduled weeks later.

I agree with this. Travel isn’t by trains anymore. There’s no reason a player can’t go to New York without missing a game.

FYI - the gambler himself is going to be holding a press conference today at 1:30 PM Central time. If you want to listen to it online the local sports station is The Ticket.

And my question is: why wasn’t he fired outright for his actions? And for that matter, why didn’t the cameraman have him arrested for assault?

Well that was quick - 1 minute 55 seconds. He’s “truly sorry,” and the statement was apparently “against the advice of his legal counsel.” He also said it was out of character for him, and that he was disappointed in himself.

He also stubbed his pinky toe on the way out of the room, and slugged a girl scout who asked him if he was OK.

I believe the camera man is persuing legal action. As for MLB players being “Fired,” I don’t think it can happen. Their contracts are guaranteed. He’d have to do something really serious for the club to attempt to void his contract…like pitch poorly or something.

The Rangers didn’t release him because they’d still have to pay him, and their pitching staff is in shambles to begin with.

I think legal action is still being explored against him.

As far as insincere apologies go, that was about the most insincerest.

Well I guess he’ll miss another 3 or 4 starts now, won’t he?
