Kerry takes the high road

CNN says that John Kerry announced that he will forego all political rhetoric this week in honor of President Reagan. The Bush campaign, on the other hand, says that it will continue campaining while focusing on Reagan’s legacy. I take this to mean that they will take advantage of the opportunity to associate themselves with him, and I’m sorry, but I find that to be in bad taste. Reagan was liked by his political adversaries, like Tip O’Neal, because he understood when to set aside politics and just be a human being. Mr. Bush, you could learn a thing or two from your mentor. And from John Kerry.

I know I am being pitted, but you got to be a major moron … Bush learning something from jfk?

The condolence speech by Kerry was just about one of the deepest yet subtle digs I have ever seen in campaining.

Actually, I’m a rather insignificant moron. But carry on.

Yeah, I’m sure he could learn quite a bit. Like, for instance, what it’s actually like to be in a fucking war.

I agree with Lib on this, although I have to point out that ‘foregoing campaigning to honor President Reagan’ is itself a form of campaigning. Especially if he keeps repeating it. Nonetheless, it’s a classy thing to do, and Bush would do well to emulate him.

Sally, your behavior is lapsing over into jerkishness. As far as I can tell from your post, its sole intent was to focus even more controversey on yourself.* That’s called trolling and we don’t put up with it here.
Either clean up your act immediately or we will remove your ability to post.

TVeblen
*JFK was not even mentioned by the OP.

Thanks …

How can you Liberals even remotely (in the same paragraph) associate President Ronald W. Reagan with Hanoi jfk? How much more do you Liberals want to degrade the legacy of President Reagan?

JFK are also the initials of Senator Kerry. I’m sure that’s what she meant, although I don’t want this to be read in any way as a defense of Ms. Star’s presence in these fora.

But does Kerry’s statement mean that his campaign will stop? Bush is not currently campaigning personally; following his return from Europe he will be hosting the G-8 summit.

Uh, John Kerry’s initials are jfk!

Yes, he was.

FYI, TVeblen, “JFK” is a derogatory nickname in some conservative circles for John Kerry. Yes, it’s a tad confusing, but usually I assume they’re talking about Kerry unless the context says otherwise.

At some point in his life, I’m sure he did have that privalege, yes. And probably, he learned a great deal from the experience. You could do well to make as much of your stint as a major moron.

Oh, my. I’ll let Liberal/Libertarian deal with your misapprehension of his name’s meaning, if he wants to bother (not very promising material to work with here, eh, Lib?) and simply observe that if you’d stop posting drivel and start reading to get a sense of the SDMB and its inhabitants, you might make fewer blunders.

But I’m not holding my breath.

Sally, although his name’s Liberal, he’s more of your old-fashioned ‘classic liberal’, closer to a libertarian today, so your attack on him for being a liberal (in the modern sense) doesn’t really.

I, on the other hand, am a modern bleeding-heart tree-hugging lefty liberal. Hope this helps, carry on.

Pipped at the post by Eddy, I see.

…make sense.

Like I want to stay on a MB where the MOD’s don’t even know the Democrat Presidential candidate’s initials and closes a thread because … well never mind. And I was call stupid here … LMAO

I note that he’s not going to pull his campaign advertising, which makes the gesture moot IMHO, given that it is the only campaigning that the vast majority of people ever see. Of course, at this late date, pulling it would probably be millions of dollars completely lost that they can’t afford to lose in the face of Bush’s mega “haves and have mores” campaign. I doubt the networks would just gladly hand back pre-scheduled buys. But I hope they have enough sense to at least switch them out for all positive ads. Frankly, if I were running the campaign, I’d lose the money and avoid the possibility of anyone going “hey, he says one thing, does another!”

Sally, next time tell us you mean Kerry, and not Kennedy.

At any rate, Kerry is simply saying he’s going to take a week off from his campaign in honor of Reagan. He’s trying to say something NICE about Reagan.

Shit, this chick is fucking thick.

For obvious reason.
