One of the comedians who was all over Comedy Central and it’s early days. There are parts of his routines that are permanently imprinted in my memory, including the “you’re like a crazy person” routine.

About six years ago he was in a hilarious commercial for NeighborWorks foreclosure help.
First time I saw him was in an HBO Special (IIRC), and my friends had taped it and told me I’d love it. For the first 15 minutes he bombed. The audience was practically ready to storm the stage we was dying so hard. Then he bumped his nose into the mike, and from then on it was Comedy Gold. I’ve never seen a comic actively try to get his audience to dislike him and then successfully flip like that. He was a semi-genius.

Only saw one act, on cable back in the '80s. I liked it.
Wasn’t he the title character in the TV version of* Uncle Buck*? That show was awesome, even though it barely lasted. Harry Caray was in one episode.
Yes, he was, but I think his stand-up comedy will be what most folks remember. He’s also in the movie Big, as one of the board members who loves Tom Hanks’ ideas.
The obits I saw said he was in the Broadway production of Hairspray for 7 years. Which would be an amazing accomplishment. But …
The show started in 2002 and he joined the cast in 2005. It ran until 2009. So no 7 years and probably even less than 4. But it does correspond with a 6 year gap in his IMDb listings.
He played a variety of roles including Mr. Pinky.
Still, a pretty good thing to have on your resume.
