Here is a list of the previous 15 accusations. Only 3 were from the Old Vic so there are now roughly double that number.
LA sheriff is looking into an assault case from 1992.
he is charged with a felony from an assault in 2016 in Nantucket
Has anyone here seen the absolutely bizarre video he released today, right before being charged? It is so weird. He’s commenting on the allegations against him in the persona of Frank Underwood. What made him this this video was a good idea!? Seriously , this is how he resurfaces after being completely quiet for over a year?
“Absolutely bizarre” is a perfect description. What the hell is he thinking?
That is straight from bizarro land. Cookoo!
Was gonna start a thread about his video. “Bizarre” is an understatement. He seems to be working off the assumption that Americans root for Frank Underwood and thus, will extend this support to him.
Frank Underwood is undeniably a villain, though. Just the type of villain who would do something horrible to another person and then lie about it without a twinge of remorse. Just the kind of bastard who thinks those little pesky rules of conduct, such as get consent before groping someone, don’t apply to men like him. This is whom he wants us to think of in the days leading up to his court date. Unbelievable.
Kevin Spacey apparently didn’t get the memo that current events make Frank Underwood unwatchable now. We’ve had our fill of rapey, dishonest politicians, as well as actors who behave the same way.
I haven’t watched the video, but I would probably suggest that people tend to make bad decisions when they’re under extreme stress. (To give a technical answer to the rhetorical question.)
Holy Cow. I wondered how he was holding up. I sense he’s a tad bitter.
I’ve only seen the short bit of it that was on the news. It’s truly a Norma Desmond moment.
Desperation, drugs/alcohol? He’ll be a prime candidate for the 2019 death pool.
His most famous roles involve a messed up personality hiding under a manipulative veneer of appropriateness. I guess he’s always been good at that but now everything is slipping away.
It turns out that the 18 year-old who is the alleged victim in Kevin Spacey’s felony indecent assault and battery filmed the attack on Snapchat.
The 18 year-old told Spacey that he was actually 23, accepted several drinks from him, engaged with him in sexual banter when they were outside smoking together and continued to hang out drinking with him even after Spacey began to fondle him thru his open fly, all while surreptitiously filming the incident.
I am in no way defending the vile, entitled, sexually predatory Kevin Spacey, but it is clear to me that this was a classic “Honey Trap” and a setup for a good olde-fashioned Shoogar Shakedown by a young man with dollar signs in his eyes. He played the old lech like a pro, and I bet my bottom dollar that when Spacey called his bluff and balked at paying up the hush money, the teen decided to go public, thinking that the jig was up.
As for Spacey, it seems like he may have finally gotten himself into a position that he can’t squirm his way out of, and may well end up seeing the inside of a Massachusetts prison cell, especially if his other alleged victims are allowed to have their say.
Which incident was this?
The incident that led to criminal charges.
Spacey seems to have gone to the Michael Jackson School of Self Incrimination.
I’m probably going to get flamed for this, but assuming the allegations are true, I do not see a sexual assault here.
He told Spacey that he was 23, they starting drinking and engaging in sexual banter, and Spacey rubs the man’s thigh and unzips his pants prior to fondling his genitals. Instead of recoiling at any point in this process and telling Spacey he is not interested, he pulls out a cell phone and begins filming it.
This seems to me to be a standard progression of a sexual encounter, and the man’s actions scream of blackmail.
I have heard similar responses from men that have met a woman at a nightclub, and after spending some intimate time, they find out that the woman is actually underage and was in the club with a fake ID.
It is on the part of the person instigating the sexual contact to confirm all is lawful and consent. Period. I know that may seem unfair, but that is the way of things. That said, conviction rates for sexual assault are dreadfully low anyway. It is statistically unlikely that he will be found guilty.
Isn’t 18 the legal age of consent, though?
The age is not an issue here. This is not a juvenile, he was 18. It’s slready been stipulated that he told Spacey he was 23. Was the sexual contact consensual? Did Spacey ply him with alcohol and wait until he was too intoxicated to stop unwanted sexual contact? Was he too intoxicated to give consent? Supposedly there is a video. If the video helps the defense I find it hard to believe it would have gone this far through the legal system. I’m guessing it goes a long way to proving the state’s case.
See above reply. In most states it’s lower than 18. The age isn’t a factor at all in this case.
If Spacey knew he was 18 there could be some minor charge of providing alcohol for someone under 21. But that would be the least of his problems.
