Keychains that answer you...

It took me an hour to find my *$**$ing keys this morning (they’d slid behind a bookshelf) and it’s not the first time. While I’m usually pretty good about leaving them on the hook by the door… always the accident. I want some type of device where when you clap or blow a whistle or hit a remote (that stays put in one place) or whatever you keys beep or dance or sing “Rose’s Turn” from GYPSY or do something so that you can locate them within seconds. Does anybody have any suggestions for
1- such a device
2- any place that sells them?

Thanks

  1. Yes.
  2. Yes.

Many years ago, my beloved spouse bought me one that you clapped twice to set off. I had to stop carrying it on my keychain because it would embarass me by being false alarmed, usually when I was in a business meeting.

These things were very popular in the mid-1980s. Trouble is, their range is limited, and you have to go from room to room whistling. I think it’d be much more up-to-date to have one which has its own cellphone number.
Then again, why we still have huge bunches of metal keys in this day and age is beyond me.

My problem was the lengthy search for the (indoor) cat after a door has been left open. I bought two “keyringer” devices. Strap one to cat collar. The other is stuck on fridge (built in magnet). Push button on either device and it emits a “calling” pattern of beeps. If the other detects the pattern, it sounds a “I’m here” pattern. Few false alarms. Cat does not seem bothered during our many tests and demos. It has come in handy several times for real use since installation.

Years ago I had one of the clap 3x devices but it liked to go off when I was typing, cutting on a cutting board, etc.
