I can’t cite, but I’m pretty sure Mountain Dew predated Kickapoo Joy Juice. At the time, I know I thought: “This is just Mountain Dew.”
It’s made by Monarch Beverage.
It’s citrus based like Mt. Dew which at one time also used hillbillies on its bottles, but apparently Kickapoo is a different product.
I also found this interesting.
Can say that again - when I saw the can for the first time I kept asking for “joy juice” and in reutrn just got that blank stare that I know so well - meaning that my england was too powderful and they weren’t catching any balls.
In Singapore, I’d be careful about inquiring into joy juice and talking about balls. Unless maybe I was in Geylang, Orchard Towers or Duxton Hill.
I used to live a couple of miles from Kickapoo Creek in Peoria. I figured real KJJ should be made from its waters.
I live in Peoria now actually. What a weird coincidence.
I’m not sure how well water out of the Kickapoo Creek would sell, with dirt and dead fish in it and everything.
The Lady Boys hang out in the Changi Village area (I think)
Thanks for letting me know which area to avoid. Buddha knows, we have enough of them here!
