Kid saves toddler

Oh wow… http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2003362494,00.html

[I found this offline elsewhere and the Sun’s article was the first I found online]

Granted that the reports are slim and the whole story is yet to be known…

My prayers are with them both and their families. What an outstandingly brave thing for a child nine years old to do. And (paradoxically) well done to the parents for having inculcated such selfless behaviour in their son.

Assuming nothing sinister, this young man - and mark that he made a man’s decision - deserves a high award.

Sadly, given that ‘critical’ is often Britdoc-speak for ‘can die any minute now’, the George Cross is likely to be posthumous.

From the article…

Uh, just what are two, apparently unrelated, kids of that age doing crossing a street by themselves? It’s just that nine year olds don’t often hang out with toddlers of their own accord.

Personally, I think if I were the parent of a kid in that situation, I’d like to have it inculcated in their mind that the thing to do is…RUN!
