That. Is. Awesome.
And having done a whole ton of hanging out with 9 - 12 year olds, yes, I can completely believe that all these things were said by the kids. They can be absolutely hilarious.

Ditto. My wife’s uncle’s two kids are 10 and 13, and I can hear everything in these articles coming out of their mouths. Makes it even funnier that way, actually.
Funny the other day I was going to post a article about my kids and their friends. Sounds like this article when you consider there’s a NES, SNES, Sega, Sega Saturn not working ), Play Station and XBox. The first four were mine
and of course that’s whne all the giggling starts.
To be honest, a lot of those games were, for lack of a better word, “dumb”. I would’ve said primitive.
As much as I love games like Super Mario Brothers or The Legend of Zelda (and I do love and frequently play such “old-school” games), you have to admit that they are in many ways lacking in gameplay and full of annoyances. Pong is essentially dumbed down 2D table tennis- real table tennis gets boring after a while, and pong gets boring even faster. There’s no way to save in SMB- if you die, even if you’re facing Bowser in level 8-8, you start at the begining. Very frustrating.
These games were good for their time, and are still fun now, but the fact is that due to the primative technology available to make them at the time, the average pre-SNES game just isn’t as good as the average post-SNES game (there are, of course, numerous exceptions)
However, for their comments about Tetris and Galaga, these children deserve to die. (OK, that’s a bit drastic. Maybe just be tied up and mercilessly tickled, or something. But you just don’t badmouth Galaga)
My little brother is 11, and he would say things like in those articles. I thought it was totally believable.
My eleven- and fourteen-year-old cousins (who slaughtered me in Halo 2 over the holidays, though I can’t say it was actually difficult to beat me) would say stuff like that too.
