Kids with remarkable skills

My daughter new how to operate the DVD player before she was two. Now that she is three, she can use most of the remote and switch from DVD to VCR mode and then change channels to watch what she wants.

Right after she turned two, there was a flyer at her day care advertising computer lessons for ages 2 and up. It insisted they could learn. I work in IT and said screw it, I will see for myself. When we got home, I took her to my computer showed her the mouse and some basic keyboard things and away she went. I swear she could fully use the mouse (well) after five minutes of instruction. I think I screwed up though because I have to fight with a three year old for computer time. She uses bookmarks to surf the web and watches online video clips, and plays some games that I got for her. She has mastered it all. I am seriously considering her own full computer before she gets to kindergarten.

What can I say, I was a pretty good programmer at 8 years old and even taught myself some Assembly language from a manual for fun at that age.

My daughter, who just turned 5, is able to fieldstrip and reassemble an M-16A2. She can’t do it blindfolded, yet, but we’re working on it.

LOL, I’ve known enough servicemen that had trouble with that task; but an M16-A2 is no big deal my kid can assemble/disassemble a M109-A6 (Paladin) 155mm Self-propelled Howitzer, so there.

I read this and was impressed, and then I realized who it was.

Awwww…

That’s funny.

“army man”, “Pow”: Aaron II

My kid is a perfectly ordinary, average 10-year-old who plays well with others. However, he can (1) dislocate his thumbs (either one) without using the other hand, (2) get both his ankles behind his neck while in a sitting position (yeah, I guess this wouldn’t really work in any other position, would it?), and (3) jump up into the air and kick himself in the butt with both feet. Due to some kind of optical illusion this makes it look like he is hovering in the air. Oh yes–he lands on his feet.
