Killing Off Brain Cells

when you smoke marijuana, which brain cells die off first and in which part of the brain?

The two brain cells above your eye controlling your sphinter muscles.

No, really.

Myth: Pot Kills Brain Cells

Clearly pot kills SOMETHING in the brain. You can pick out a pothead from a huge crowd. They grow lazy and their speech is effected.

Cite?

I challenge you to pick me out of a crowd, even when I’m stoned out of my gourd.

You’re thinking of the stereotypical pothead that our government wants you to believe everyone turns into the first time they take a hit. Sucker!

digitalskeeza, as witty as your retort is, it doesn’t really contribute much.

Anecdotally, I’ve spent time with self-confessed stoners and people who’ve never smoked dope. The stoners all seem to share some traits, which, while I don’t have a cite, are in line with what Mr Salads has described.

Perhaps a more poignant question might be - what is it about marijuana that causes people to display these characteristics long after they’ve stopped smoking the stuff??

Max.

I doubt it’s the killing of brain cells that causes what you see of pot heads (Except those that smoke like everyday and all day). It’s more of marijuana culture. You know dude?

IMO, maybe it’s because those that smoke are more opened minded then most and have more of a free spirit kind of thing? One could ask the question, what is it about non-smokers that causes people to display characteristics of uptightness?

As to the OP, I would guess if any cells really had to get laid off, it would be those in the frontal lobe.

To Maxxxie and Mr.Salads, these boards are for people who want to contribute in such ways as to give cites, and non ignorant statements.

If either of you could pick a stoner out of a crowd, I’d love to see a demonstration. Not everyone who smokes pot, has dread-locks and a hemp necklace? Not eveyone who smokes pot smells like it in public, or has demon-haunted eyes…

Your statements are broadly stereotypical and with out much merit.

Phlosphr, at no time did I make any assertion that I could pick a stoner out of a crowd. Nor did I make any mention of any stereotypes such as those you’ve mentioned.

yme, don’t throw me in with the “uptight non-smoker” group. You don’t know me from dirt.

To clarify, the stoners I referred to in my original post all share the same characteristics, namely a certain… slow-wittedness. This is long after they stopped smoking. Yes, this is anecdotal, based on my own observations.

I don’t think “slow” and being open-minded/free-spirited are the same thing, nor is one easily confused for the other.

My question still stands; what is it about people who were once regular smokers, but who do not smoke anymore, that makes them display the same “slow” characteristics?

Max.
