Well, I’m hoping my luck doesn’t run out anytime too soon. This past Saturday morning, the office at the apartment complex I live in burned down. I don’t think anyone was hurt, but I’m not positive. Apparently it’s a suspected arson, which isn’t a very comforting feeling that close by.
Then today, there was some kind of explosion in the campus building which houses my office. (I didn’t happen to be in my office at the time). Somebody was mixing some hydrochloric acid and potassium, I think, and it blew up. The person doing the mixing was burned a little, but not too bad, I don’t think. They evacuated the building as a precaution, for hazardous fumes, I reckon.
Hopefully the rest of the week will be a little less eventful.
Wow!! Cabbage, for sure the rest of your week has to go downhill from here, wouldn’t you think? I’m glad you’re okay, and I hope no one was hurt in the fire or the explosion.

I am also glad you are ok Cabbage. One question though, this explosion - is this normal at the university ? The guy who did it, was he under-grad ? Curious, I don’t think I would go near that lab if I could help it.

Thanks everybody. Actually, I’m a math major, too; of course, it was someone in the chem department that caused the explosion, you’d think they’d know better (apparently it was sulfuric acid, not hydrochloric, not that it necessarily makes a heck of a lot of difference). The person that set it off was a TA in chemistry. God, I hope it’s not normal at the university. Hell, I’m in the building where it happened right now; everything seems to be back to normal.
